Re: Foil size for KiteFoil Wave Riding

I ride the SK8 750 with the new monoblock tail "XS 141 carving W" (141 cm²). With the "original" setup (XXXS 160 cm² monoblock tail) it is too pitch sensitive - too nervous. Waves are mainly windswell, knee to shoulder high. Wind between 12 and 25 kts. 75 kg. The SK8 is phantastic. Very low and cons...

Re: UFO vs boxer

Upwind: Ufo clearly better than Peak Lift during transitions: Can´t judge, as I don´t do any. My only "trick" is foot switch  Lift of Ufo is stronger than Peak. A friend told me that the Ufo produces too little lift for his taste, he switched to Slingshot Code (but he is fully focussed on maneu...

Re: UFO vs boxer

I feel very qualified to answer! Had the exact 8 m² Boxer model with my first foil setup. Fell in love with foiling the waves (did strapless waveriding with kite for 10 years before touching the foil). Then completely switched to the Peaks (4 / 5 / 8 m²). Loved them so much! Sooo much! The drift and...

Re: KiteFoil strong wind - recomendation

I fly 21 m lines with all my Ufos. The 7 m² is better (faster, more nimble) with 18 m lines. The 5 m² and smaller sizes get too fast with 18 m lines. My bar is 50 cm wide. Yes, maybe a bit wide for the small Ufos. But I don´t have another (narrower) bar. 30 cm would surely be great. I hold the bar a...

Re: Stab shape effects

His lates vid is in huge waves, correct. Low front wing lift and high pitch stability at super high speeds during super tight carves (in the vertical face of the waves!) is probably his biggest interest :-D But he is using the same setup in very small waves as well. Just hip-high or so. He gets skie...

Re: Stab shape effects

Really interesting topic! I follow Mister Bennetts on youtube. He is using all kinds of foils and he is constantly "modifying" frontwings and stabs to find the best working shapes for his insane wave foiling performances. He is posting a lot of information in the comments below his videos. If you lo...

Re: KiteFoil strong wind - recomendation

Buy the 3 m² Ufo V2. You can get it rather cheap in the sale. The 3 m² kites should still be available - not a big market demand. I use the 3 m² Ufo from 18-20 kts and it is really perfect. I feel slightly overpowered when it gets more than 25, but I am not really representative it seems. Only downs...

Re: Cabo Verde in May/June

Large waves are never slow. They are fast. Wave size and speed are directly dependent on each other, a law of nature.
This is particularly valid for large ocean swell, hitting the Cabo Verde islands. This is no location for beginners, maybe with one exception at the east side of Sal.

Re: Slingshot UFO V3

Insane what wind range some people are liking... I use my V2 Ufos as follows (75 kg, f-one SK8 750): 7 m² 11-15 kts 5 m² 13-18 kts 4 m² 16-20 kts 3 m² 20-27 kts (then the waves get too big for my foil skills and I get out the good old surfboard with my 5 m² 3-strut wavekite) The 4 m² Ufo I like the...

Re: Slingshot UFO V3

When you unhook the Ufo you have to make sure to trim it quite a bit before unhooking. Otherwise it will backstall heavily. This is particularly valid for the V1 / V1.1. When you use a very light carbon bar (like the Infexion Max Bar V3) with the small Ufo sizes, you are riding as freely as I could ...
