Re: Slingshot UFO V3

Insane what wind range some people are liking... I use my V2 Ufos as follows (75 kg, f-one SK8 750): 7 m² 11-15 kts 5 m² 13-18 kts 4 m² 16-20 kts 3 m² 20-27 kts (then the waves get too big for my foil skills and I get out the good old surfboard with my 5 m² 3-strut wavekite) The 4 m² Ufo I like the...

Re: Slingshot UFO V3

When you unhook the Ufo you have to make sure to trim it quite a bit before unhooking. Otherwise it will backstall heavily. This is particularly valid for the V1 / V1.1. When you use a very light carbon bar (like the Infexion Max Bar V3) with the small Ufo sizes, you are riding as freely as I could ...

Re: Gyro stabilized foil

Standard aviation technology. Completely overengineered for water sports (imho). A major part of (my) foiling fun is to use simple gear and master the physical complexity of balancing the "flight". And getting fit as a side-effect. I would never think about using complex electro-mechanic stuff to el...

Re: Recommended Line Length for 3m LEI

I use a 3 and 4 m² Ufo V2. The 3 m² is not easy to handle: Very fast reaction to steering input and very high speed (flying). One thing which is valid for every small kite: They don´t fly well in low windspeeds, because they tend to backstall very heavily when oversheeted. And you oversheet such a s...

Re: Cauipe, we have a problem!

Sure! Rain (heavy, catastrophic rainfall) is another consequence of global warming. Higher temperature > more water evaporates from the oceans > more water vapor in the atmosphere > more / more concentrated rainfall in many locations. At the same time, higher temperature causes more dynamic atmosphe...

Re: Cauipe, we have a problem!

The simple truth is: All beaches and costal areas will experience severe destructions in the next years / decades, due to climate change. This will happen. Sooner or later. And with increasing frequency. Last winter in Germany lots of baches were completely destroyed by storms and large waves. Concr...

Re: Slingshot UFO V3

18 m lines are too short for the smaller Ufos, from my point of view. I tried 18 m with the 5 m² V1 and it was too nervos / sensitive for my taste (and I really like fast kites). 21 m is much more relaxed and still very fast (for 3 / 4 / 5 m² Ufos). It was really surprising for me how much of a diff...

Re: inverted Ufo

Thanks everyone, very helpful! I had inflated the kite more than properly. I always pump as hard as possible with my whole body weight on the pump piston. Which equals ca. 11 PSI. Maybe I have not fixed the velcro on the deflate valve perfectly... Everything seems fine now, after inspection. No leak...

inverted Ufo

Experienced something weird recently: I dropped my 4 m² UFO V2 on the water surface. Nothing special, leading edge down, not a real slam either. No idea how and why, but the kite immidiately relaunched inverted (front tube "above" the canopy, bent into the wrong direction). Before I knew it, the def...
