Re: We lost a brother today...be careful out there

Wow thats extreme!

Only chance a kiter would have would be to hit both QR and Safety release but lets be honest, few of us would totally dump the kite right away. The wind spiked so quickly nothing could be done.

Re: Maui (Kihei area) - 11am no riding rule apply for wing?

You people are clowns. Seriously! The 11am rule on Maui only applies on the north shore within a 5 mile radius of OGG airport. Because Kanaha is right behind the airport, a US federal law prohibits kitesurfing within 5 miles (airport admin allowed to offer exemptions). The OGG airport administrator ...

Re: Pacific coast Nicaragua

Bahia de Salinas is kiteable at times but can be rough. Research the stingray issue before going. The ferry to Ometepe launches out of San Jorge. That spot can be insane wind and it will whip up the lake water into violent swell. On the NW coast of Ometepe Island is a mellower kite spot with a kite ...

Re: 2022 What is the new best 17m tube kite for big air?

I have no way / method to prove the wind at kite level is 12mph. I have a nearby wind meter that reports to iKitesurf at a harbor. But I can load up a 20ft jump when there are no whitecaps with this specific kite and small waves as kickers. If there is not a hint of a whitecap, its below 14mph. I ba...

Re: Kiterange update for more kiteloop progression, Edge v10/ Orbit

Your selections are inverted. Smaller kites are better for learning kiteloops and Orbits are good at kiteloops. High AR kites like the Edge are better as you get into lighter wind. The larger kite should be the Edge and the smaller ones the Orbit. An 8m Orbit (or other kiteloop kite like a Dice or S...

Re: 2022 What is the new best 17m tube kite for big air?

I own a Duotone Aluula Juice 15m. Fantastic for jumps in light wind for a higher weight rider (225 lbs). The kite will keep riding down to 7-8mph altho I need about 12mph to load up 20ft jumps. In 30 mph winds on smaller kites I consistently jump 45-50ft doing tricks. The Aluula Juice requires a lig...

Re: Naish Apex Binding/Duotone Jaime

Yes it is I use Apex bindings on my 2019 Jaime Textreme (had Entity straps break at the plastic connector). Make sure the screws match the metal inserts for the Jaime rails (pretty sure Im using the Naish screws not the ones that orig came with my Entity bindings). The Entity straps come with differ...

Re: Cape Town diary

I am curious, what was your expectation for visiting CPT? CPT is known for the Cape Doctor wind, basically thermal wind that builds up all day long and is strongest as you approach sunset (usually the Cape Dr hits full power about an hour before Sunset). If you ask around the local kite schools, the...
