Re: Peak 4 Self Rescue

I ride with a mesh backpack with a large drawstring opening I can stuff the kite and bar in if (when) I crash. I stuff everything into the backpack and then put the backpack on the board and drift in. I used to carry swim fins in the backpack to help with the paddle in but I found they didn't reall...

Re: Small (below 5m) kites

I have a 3.5m Boxer I use in flatwater for 20kn+. I’m 200lbs and I don’t have wingtip folds on waterstart. Our winds rarely get above 25kn, so I don’t know the high end, but it works well at least up to 25kn.

Re: Foiling foot-switch hack

I've been trying for years to up my success rate on foiling foot switches and recently made a slight change / hack that I thought I'd share & discuss with the crew here. Background - I'm 60 this year, arthritic knees & about 75 - 80 % deaf ( balance improves vastly when hearing aids are in, mine ar...

Re: When to upgrade to longer mast?

Second of all the downwind carve part of your gybe should be performed with your dominant footing every time, you just change where you do your foot switch. On your dominant side you carve downwind and then foot switch, on your weaker side you foot switch and then carve downwind. Respectfully disag...

Re: Smallest kitefoil pocket board size

I have a Groove Skate 130cm board and I'm contemplating getting a smaller "pocket" kitefoil board to allow me to fit all my kite gear into a SUP bag for traveling light on flights so I can take my kite gear on work trips. The question is, how small can I go before I start to seriously compromise pe...

Re: Kite size for low but not ultra low wind foiling

If you downloop first, kite will accelerate to the other edge, and when you carve downwind now line tension is lost... Or is it just me? I do it just opposite: * extreme low end: start downwind part of jibe before looping * medium wind: timing of kite and board is similar * high wind: downloop earl...

Re: So is kitefoiling dead?

Every TT rider said exactly the same: It looks boring, it looks gay, it looks like they just go back and forth. This was me until I saw some early Greg Drexler Cloudfoiling videos back in 2015-16. We had some guys where I live blasting around on small foils and big foil kites. Foiling like that did...

Re: What's the smallest kite you are able to use in light/moderate wind?

Bearing in mind my weight is 67kg, it is amazing how low I can go with small kites. The largest kite i use is a 5m Peak5 and I much prefer my smaller kites, 4m Peak5 and 3.5m & 2.5m Hybrids. The difference in wind speed required between the 4m & 5m Peak5 is only 1 or 2 knots and the key capability ...

Re: Kite size for low but not ultra low wind foiling

Getting a bit off topic but I would agree that for the lowest wind a down loop is needed/best technique . My low end is always better with down loops, no exceptions. However, for learning the jibe itself I can definitely see an argument to go “over 12”. Just make sure you have enough wind when lear...
