Also check for snowboarding protections. I have a thick padded tight short to be used under snowboarding or skiing pants. It also worked great in the water for me.

Riding that kind of wave with a foil is more dangerous than kiteboarding. A wipe out with a foil is serious thing.
A big problem with surfing is the crowd. it's rare to see such a nice wave without a crowd fighting for a spot in it.

Not Ion for sure. Mine is getting worn, but it's sewn. The only shoe repair shoe that I know of is incredible expense, so I'll use my Ion until it wears out and then get a new one, different brand though, unless I come across a good deal.
