I have bought Shinn boards from Silent Sports web store in Canada in the past, but their shipping was not that cheap.
Dang, that's crazy. Silent Sports shipping isn't that great even living in Ontario.

I actually did end up buying the 138 Monk Chromatic from SS. Can't wait to try it!

Re: Aruba - a couple questions

I haven't been to Aruba since 2014, but I will say that shoes are a must. I asked the locals if I should wear boots and they said no - I found out later that day the reason my foot was stinging was because of venomous seaweed.

Re: Review my Xmas stocking: Shinn Monk Chromatic 43

Thanks for the write up. I'm looking at the Monk Chromatic right now and I'm caught between getting the 140x44 and 138x43. Based on your description I think the 138x43 will be best - I'm 84Kg/185lb on average, riding more than 10 years. I live in Ont, Canada and I ride fresh water, in-land lakes. We...

Re: Boosting only one way

For me, depends on how the wind and chop lines up, so you might find you jump just as well the other way, with a bit of practice. Some days, I forget which side is my natural side but it doesn't matter because the chop is coming in at the wrong angle... Some day, I boost in one direction then play ...

Re: Anyone try S26 Pivot 12m?

I swapped my Pivot 12m S25 for a Reedin supermodel 12m V2. Finally, I have the 12th I cared about the most. In my opinion this kite is just perfect. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: I've never tried any of the Pivot kites, but I do own a Supermodel V2 11m and I agree with you 100% - it's pretty awesome. It ...

Re: Who's design is it really? Kite marketing sucks.

It's been 20 years of kiteboarding bars that were either faulty right off the start, or wore out so quickly that you'd be lucky to get a year of use out of them. And these BS designs were primarily a product of trying to get around patents of rival kite companies. It's seriously been 2 decades of a...

Who's design is it really? Kite marketing sucks.

So I just noticed that the 2021 Slingshot Sentry control bar is almost a carbon copy of the Reedin Dreamstick (1 & 2). I work in an engineering field as my day job, so I completely understand the logic and cost effectiveness of why companies source prefab components and assemble them to their specif...

Is it just me, or does it look like a tamper proof fastener? LOL - don't use those!

Re: Starting on Long mast vs Short mast

My guess is that you need to figure out the timing of when you move your weight from the back foot for lift, to the front foot to neutralize. This timing changes with different mast lengths and needs to correspond with how you are moving and powering the kite. You might also not be diving the kite ...

Re: Jumps don't count unless you stick the landing

I disagree, I think there's a difference. Jump height is a stand alone figure that only technique and power can generate. A failure to ride away doesn't make the jump any less high. A 'trick' that isn't landed, isn't a trick. Board-offs, grabs, inversions, rotations all need to be "finished" with a ...
