Re: Hainan Island - Rentals & kitesurfchina.com ?

Well, to answer my own question: I gave up on kitesurfchina.com. Never did get a response from them. No idea if they are still a going concern or not. So, I went for plan B - I just showed up in Bo'ao (supposedly the prime kitesurfing spot on Hainan Island) and hoped for the best. I walked to the be...

Re: Can I use a single control bar for all my kites?

Thanks for pointing out something I need to be more clear on, and please re-read my origional post as I have made a correction. Understand that because I was a snowkiter first, I forget that many kiters have virtually no experience with land/snowkiting - other than launching and landing. And in alm...

Re: Can I use a single control bar for all my kites?

The best way to train is to buy (cheap used, of the same make as your 6m) and fly it on land with the biggest bar you have. If you train this kite hard by doing drills such as not looking at the kite the entire session, crossing the window and trying to do instant redirects, and multiple loops, you...

Re: Hainan Island - Rentals & kitesurfchina.com ?

Hi, Did you also know you can kite close to hong Kong? Hong Kong kiting- Shui Hau Wan Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed and helpful reply. I will keep it in mind for plan B, or maybe for a different trip. For this trip however, I kinda have my mind set on Hainan Island, primarily ...

Hainan Island - Rentals & kitesurfchina.com ?

I am going to be in China in May and thinking of heading to Hainan Island for a few days kitesurfing. Not sure that May is the ideal time of the year to be there but gotta work within the itinerary I have. So far, I have had no zero success finding any outfits on Hainan island that offer kitesurfing...

Re: Cabrinha bar repair advice pls

I simply can’t think of a reason to put this part on any bar I have: (1) It keeps the bar within easy reach for those of us that who aren't blessed with Neanderthal length arms. (2) Under normal circumstances, it automatically puts the bar into 'neutral' by just letting go of it but allows the opti...

Re: What makes a jump drop fast?

Riding in gusty, high wind conditions with a small kite can be a challenge. You may jump and midair the wind drops enough so that you have a hard landing. A small kite is way more sensitive to wind fluctuations than a larger kite, especially for larger riders. OTOH, a gust might come along midair a...

Re: Cabrinha Moto - new Kite 2019

Cabrinha added the Moto and dropped the Apollo.... Say it ain't so. I picked up a 12 m Apollo mid way through last season. Mainly as an experiment. Loved it. Every time I had a session on that kite, I came back to the shore with a smile on my face. So much so that I subsequently picked a 10 m Apoll...

Re: Complete beginner advice..

IMHO, when transitioning from windsurfing to kitesurfing, a key habit you need to unlearn is this: Windsurfing - When things start getting out of control, always hold onto the boom. Why ? To stop getting whacked by the rig. Kitesurfing - When things start getting out of control, let go of the bar. W...

Re: According to Google Trends, kiteboarding is declining in popularity

The good news is that more people are calling it kitesurfing rather than kiteboarding
