Re: Cabrinha announces separation with Lorenzo and Leo Casati

Ironically $12 is the amount of money American Airlines gives you for a meal voucher when they completely botch your return flights and keep you hostage for almost 2 days! That sounds like the going rate. I just got NZ$20 from Qantas for stranding me in Auckland airport overnight. At current exchan...

Re: Wingfoil is building faster than everything...

That's a very serious reply to a joke... 😃😃😃 No worries mate. You sprinkled enough smileys in your original post that it was clear that you were taking the piss. I just wanted to make that point, for the benefit of the 'less-evolved' forum members, in case it hadn't been made already previously. By...

Re: Wingfoil is building faster than everything...

Then the lines could get longer yet, so that the wing could be "flown" to generate apparent wind and increase power in lulls and light winds... And, as the lines get progressively longer, so gets diminished: (a) The ability to instantly and totally de-power. (b) To not only be able to handle but al...

Re: We need to talk about this: Pocket Foiling

There's not a whole lot of additional surface area there above and beyond the rider himself. Are we getting the point where somebody wearing one of those wingsuits might be able to get up on foil ?

Re: To Harness or not to Harness?

Is accidental hooking in a thing when wing foiling with a harness, ie: the way it sometimes was in windsurfing back in the day especially when in the middle of what might have otherwise been a primo jibe ?

If so, is the single line attachment set up (AKA the lazy winger) the way to go ?

Re: To Harness or not to Harness?

And soon why not a bar and few meter line...Just for Add some Power in light Wind.... Maybe it is because, once you add bar and lines you lose that feeling of being 'one with the wind' as well as the fact that you can't de-power instantaneously and completely when riding in ultra-gusty conditions (...

Re: Random thoughts: Any reason you couldn't use latex sealant instead of a bladder?

Or, laminate a lightweight, airtight, membrane right onto the inner side of the bladder fabric (or between an inner and outer layer of bladder fabric).

Someone else can figure out a solution for joining the bladder sections. Some sort of 'weld' perhaps ?

Re: What Style of Wing Leash is Best for You?

An alternative to a wrist leash is a bicep leash. eg: https://www.manlysurfboards.com.au/shop ... oil-leash/. Might need to lengthen it with a foot or so of dyneema. With the attachment point moved from the wrist to the bicep, the leash almost 'disappears' in normal use.

Re: Duotone Unit 2023

5,5 @ 2,7kg For comparison with the 2.7 kg weight of the 2023 5.5 m^2 Unit quoted above, my 2022 5.5 m^2 Duotone Slick SLS weighs 2.54 kg all up. That's 2.20 kg for the wing alone plus 0.34 kg for the carbon boom. In general an SLS Slick seems to weigh roughly the same amount as a one size (0.5 m^2...

Re: How to check accuracy of Kite/Wing pump

My high school physics is coming back to me. Latest thinking: Avogadro's law, PV = nRT, captures it all. For Boyle's law to apply, n (the number of air molecules in the system) and T (the temperature) has to be constant. In other words, the system must be closed - can't generate any excess pressure ...
