Re: Shorten kite lines ?

The reason I said it is because the strength isn't crazily reduced by a figure eight loop (but it is indeed well reduced with a simple knot on the line). And I've done it quite a bit over the years, and I'm still there to tell the tale. If you were using super thin race lines, rated for the minimum...

But ensure that the lines are spliceable.
How do I ensure they are spliceable?
Are there different kinds of kiteline?

Shorten kite lines ?

Is there a way to shorten kite lines? My 6M kite has 25M lines. I'd like to cut this down to 20M. Any ideas?

Re: need new foil want speed in light wind

Depends on board size, a higher volume board will be able to attain enough speed to get even the smallest race wing flying. Pocket boards need the big wing as they don’t have the ability to travel on the surface at speed. In the light stuff, 6-10 knots I use a 12 Soul and a Levitaz Bionic. Yes, I c...

need new foil want speed in light wind

I'm looking for a new foil. I want to go fast in light wind (8 kn) and don't really care about ultimate top speed. What is possible? 20 knots? At what point do larger wings have the advantage because they can get foiling at a lower speed where perhaps a race foil won't be able to even go? Any recomm...

Re: Hit a dolphin

I hit a sturgeon. I saw him just before the hit. He swam right in front of me. Nice crash but didn't hurt me or him.

Re: app for logging foil session

I used geotracker until my waterproof bag leaked and destroyed my phone. Good thing it was my old phone. Now I used a Garmin X40 golf and fitness watch. Waterproof and handy for golf.

Re: looking for a new Lightwind tubekite Help!

Last year I used a Solo 12M and it was good to ~7knts. This year I've changed to 10.4M BRM and it's good to ~5knts. The 12 had more grunt to get you going but the 10.4 hangs in the air unbelievably well and turns way better too. Drop either kite in light wind and you're done.

Re: Pain at the Elbow - Kiter's Elbow: Treatment & Prevention

I had it terrible this year. I blame foiling. Being able to go kiting in 8 MPH means I kited allot more this year. Also, foiling for me, is usually with one hand on the bar, especially toe side. I think this put more stress on my elbows. Mine was hitting the ulnar nerve. At it's worst both of my pin...

Hands free foiling?

Has anyone figured out a way to control the kite without holding on to the bar? I can get maybe up to 10 seconds of hands free foiling before I have to grab the bar. It's 10 seconds I can pretend to be surfing a wave. 10 seconds of freedom. I can sort of control the kite by heading up or downwind bu...
