Re: The physics of kiteboarding

articulated way to explain which would require long discussions , thank you for the writing effort; And anyway I agree with your conclusion which , from my understanding, seems coherent with mine : flat plate produce lift without Bernoulli & Coanda effect, and curvature of foil will adds additional ...

Re: Concept'air 12m Pulsion kite

Yes adding one knot or, easier, to go beyond standard settings, you can untight the knot of the red line and let it go further on the left zlong thé blue Line. Clearly you are out of Factory setting in this extrem configuration with red knot fully released on the left , but i love it in extrême ligh...

Re: The physics of kiteboarding

maybe it is my language skill that limit my understanding of your statement ; yes a flat profile without curvature offers a fluid redirection thanks to the AoA , I hope you agree: look at war planes : almost or no curvature (while they fly actually, even if not optimum at low speed ) ; another examp...

Re: The physics of kiteboarding

Bernoulli principle and/or third Newtons law, both are right... (and the Navier-Stokes equations come from Newton's second law too :) ...) (*) Moreover, depending on the format of the kite, it'll have a completely different behavior acting more like a true wing or, in the opposite side, as a simple...

Re: Concept'air 12m Pulsion kite

yes exactly ; better low end, more limited high end; more agile, less stable for a gust ; stays at the zenith with lower wind but needs a little bit of moving or loops. less speed in medium winds, and more lateral traction if you exaggerate the setting too much (which I like in very low wind to get ...

Re: Had Low Wind Breakthrough For Big Guys Like Me 100 kg

That is Indeed an important point to décide or not for a 15 or 18: thé frequency of the weather 5-7 knots. If rare : no 15m "necessary". Just for the luxury pleasure of extra flat- Alone on the spot. But, on my homespot 5-7 is very frequent, Hence even if it is a niche when looking at wind range, th...

Re: Foil kite waterstarting in low and marginal wind

Not mesurable with accuacy... But Less than 6 definitelly
This kind of wind :

But it should be interesting to test for heavier riders in slightly higher winds

Re: Foil kite waterstarting in low and marginal wind

I experimented a way to increase a bit my chances to waterstart in marginal winds, that i wanted to share. To be tested when nothing else works anymore... 1/ already said elsewhere but as an introduction : when you group yourself to ease going above the board, try to sink the board fully, water abov...

Re: Risk of a knot v risk of knot removal

I remove any knot i see. My technics is just Mouth humidity , teeth and fingers. So, no tools but patience by alterning wetting-squeezing with teeth, Moving with fingers- wetting- ect.... Last week I removed a knot on the front Line of a ... 15 years old bar....(15 minutes) 3 weeks ago i removed ano...
