Re: The Naish Wing-Surfer

...there will be mass produced wind wings being sold in department/sports/outdoor stores and online for much less than they are currently... I assume next spring this wing will be shelved next to $99 SUP at Costco, priced accordingly. Then, I'm going to buy one. To use on a skateboard for crappy wi...

Re: Hydrofoil to BIG?

Feeling of foil lift with board on surface is actually a good thing. It helps developing your foiling instincts and riding skills. The opposite -- lack of lift due to small surface area -- is very unpleasant. To get some lift you have to reach higher speed and maintain high concentration to perform ...

Re: 2019 Naish Torch

Isn't Torch essentially renamed/recolored Naish x4 with 5 struts instead of 7? Keep in mind that x4 is virtually the same as x2. Welcome back to year 2002!

Re: Broken Strut

I thought that Grigory's initial reply was hilarious (if read verbatim), but as the discussion deviated into a more serious tone, I have a proposal which would settle this terminology quibble once and for all. Let's call it not mast, nor strut, but chassis ! Here is why: the airplane fuselage is con...

Re: Kite Turn Accelerator by Bruno Legaignoux

I think the turn mechanism is different in the two cases. Bruno's bar twists the kite, so that one side gets more lift than the other. The kite lift gets shifted from the center so that the aggregate force (line tension+kite lift) pulls the kite to one side. A 2-line kite turns by having dis-balance...

Re: Kite Turn Accelerator by Bruno Legaignoux

I'm not getting the fundamentals, why tension on a front and the opposite back line? It is easy to prove that pulling both front and back line at the same side would also work. In this case 4 line kite should turn pretty much like 2 line inflatables did before 4 liners rendered them obsolete.

...with carbon comparison can be tricky as there can be many different types and quantity of carbon cloth used in the lay up. Just like some brands may use 5% ordinary carbon just for the top skin, others may use 100% solid high modulus pre preg carbon... It would be nice if quality brands started ...

Re: Kite Turn Accelerator by Bruno Legaignoux

What if this length of auxiliary bar were added to the standard bar? Would 1 meter long standard bar or Bruno's new invention turn quicker? Side-by-side video comparison, if this is not too much to ask, please?

Re: New marginal wind weapon: Kruiser Lightwind

I admit, I learned something from this aircraft parallel. The stability of aircraft is better when the center of mass is closer to the center of lift. (This is just an elementary law of mechanical leverage). Therefore, if the wing is mounted at the top of fuselage, they angle it downwards, and when ...

Re: New marginal wind weapon: Kruiser Lightwind

The airplane wing angle is dictated by engineering decision to have wing mount point high or low. For example, harrier can direct its thrust down , so they attached wings at the top. And why did they angled the wings so much? Is it for stability, or simply because if the wings were horizontal, the c...
