Re: Trimming kite position deeper?

I haven’t seen any race marketing for it but then no one is racing inflatables anymore. I would think it’s similar to the Dyno too. I’m pretty interested in trying Ocean Rodeo’s new Flites with Aluula. The 9m I held last year at the demo was about 50% lighter. If the shape remains the same, it shoul...

Re: Slingshot Phantasm Carbon foil launch - 2020

A carbon fuselage alone would lighten the Hoverglide system dramatically. Not sure why they haven’t already made it as Liquid Force has for years. I can imagine it would be hard to produce a full carbon set to replace Moses

Re: Trimming kite position deeper?

Looks very similar to my Ozone Edge which is a race kite that has a lot of vertical lift when jumping. Lots of info on this forum about Edges. You’ll likely need to sine it deeply to get going and lose a bit of ground but once it gains apparent wind you can rocket upwind. Long hang time makes old sc...

Re: Liquid Force mast - cut to ~75 cm

The tap spins in the chuck before the drill bogs down but it worked fine on the cutoff 15cm waste and the 75cm mast. 4 holes tapped in 5 minutes. I wouldn’t try it on steel but aluminum is pretty soft. I can’t imagine trying to cut the mast by hand with a hacksaw. The miter saw cut it quickly and ex...

Re: Liquid Force mast - cut to ~75 cm

I used a cheap tap set in my cordless drill after drilling out the extrusion hole to match the original hole. The drill starts to lose grip on the tap after a few threads and I backed up to remove waste and add a drop of oil. It took about 5 times of this to finish after 5 minutes. I tried it on the...

Re: Liquid Force mast - cut to ~75 cm

I cut mine on a 12” miter saw with an old carbide blade that was too dull for wood. The aluminum mast cut about as quickly as oak. Tapping the 8mm is harder as you need to find a relatively long threaded tap, most are too short for the collar bolts. I’d suggest using the cut end in the collar as it ...

Re: Which Kites and lines lenght are most people using for 30 to 50 knots

5m Ocean Rodeo Storm works well in the Gorge especially Rooster Rock when it hits 50 mph. Not sure I’ve hit 50 knots though (57.5mph). It is rock solid stable with 5 struts and 23m lines

Re: ? SS H4 wing-mounted mast-connection position... advice

I have the h4 on my SS Converter and you can see #1 on the board behind the plate. So almost all the way back. Even though the h4 is a super deep surf wing, I’ve been told that the back half isn’t providing lift, just glide. I have the h2 also and it has even more lift but isn’t as deep. Wider, more...

Re: slingshot H2 or H4 for learning jibing and tacking

H2 is definitely higher lift and more stable than the h4. Put the mast on the fuselage instead of the wing (B position) and it works for Sups and windsurfers. I like the h4 more as it shares the lower top speed (slower crashes) but it is easier to follow the water surface and gybes great. It’s too e...
