Brand new Cabrinha Mantis V3 and Apex canopy looks weird

Hello guys, Last week I bought a Cabrinha Mantis (3 m V3, 4 and 5 m Apex) quiver and when I unpacked the wings I noticed that the main canopy fabric looks strange, like it is used and worn out. I sent pictures to Cabrinha and they replied that this look is normal and due to some coating. Before buyi...

Aluula durability?

Are there any owners of OR kites who can share their observation about Aluula durability after some decent usage during the summer?

I am interested in abrasion resistance and how well this material handles extensive UV exposure.

Is the Aluula looking as durable as the Dacron?

Re: Ketos Foilers - What boards are you riding

Currently I am riding my Ketos 1200V2 Kool foil with 84 cm Kanaha Shapes inspired custom board and I am super happy with it. I kept my Ketos Pocket 107 for light wind but I never used it this summer! From 8 knots I can comfortably water start with my 84 cm board and I do not foil in lower winds. Aft...

Re: The Naish Wing-Surfer

As a veteran of the windsurfer i can tell you, in >10 knots with a 60-70L board, 75-80kg rider, a 5.5+ sail enables waterstarts. Advanced waterstarts, not beginner ones, but something a hack like me could do. Windsurf waterstart (where you have the wing connected to the board via the mast) is compl...

Re: The Naish Wing-Surfer

I am pretty sure that these hand held wings are intended for SUP boards only. I do not think that it is even possible to handle a low volume foil board and the Wind-Surfer simultaneously in order to water start, especially in sufficient wind. May be some top athletes will possibly waterstart but whe...

Can someone explain the meaning of "Duck". Is there another type of tack?
On a surfboard you have the Tack

and the Duck Tack

Re: Foil Board rail protection

I am buying car bumper protection film (designed to protect from stone chips and scratches), 60 cm wide, cut to the desired length in the shop. It is much cheaper than the offered tapes (same material) and it is easier to be cut to the desired width (2-3 cm for thin foil boards or 5-6 cm for thicker...

Re: Foil Board rail protection

I use clear polyurethane tape. Holds great for more than 2 years and does great job in protecting my rails.
