Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

IMG_2484.jpg Snow Mesa has enough snow to kite. Some rocks on the mesa but pretty good for November. Skinned in but could have taken the sled about half way, the upper part of the trail is still pretty rocky. There are a couple of trees down across the trail so the chainsaw will be on the sled next...

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Looks great down in the San Juans! Snow Mesa was good. The snow was a little wind blown with pockets of soft snow and good wind for the most part. Managed to track 37 miles parking lot to parking lot on Strava. Justin or Doug might have some more pictures to add to these. Keep that sled right side u...

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Matt we missed you on Jarose but glad you guys had good wind and fun. Saturday looks sunny and windy for Snow Mesa. I'm always up for that. Close to Gunnison, Taylor has filled in pretty well and the east end of Blue Mesa is frozen and has some snow on it. The conditions on Snow or Jarose Mesa are w...

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

The trail head is at the top of Spring Creek pass, Go east to Snow Mesa about a 10-15 minute sled ride or 1-1/2 hour skin, west to Jarose Mesa about a 20-30 minute sled ride. Looks like the forecast backed off for tomorrow . Saturday and Sunday (4th and 5th) looks like the next sunny and windy day. ...

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

I get down that way a fair amount but usually go to Snow Mesa or Jarose Mesa. Usually if NOAA has a forecast of 15-20 you can be pretty sure of wind. I think I am going down there tomorrow, 10-15 forecast but the rest of the week look pretty rowdy. You are welcome to join me if you want.

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Snow Mesa update: Went down Sunday and again Tuesday, Sled access part way up, the last part is still too rocky. Parked the sled and skinned to the top. The snow cover is pretty good for December. Sunday was light wind, Tuesday was 12M for a while then it backed off. Saw two moose on the road and lo...

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

I went to Snow Mesa June 1st The sled ride in was dirt and snow at the bottom and snow once you got up a ways. There is 2-3 ft. of snow up top and had pretty good wind in the morning then it got gusty afternoon. It looks like the sled access is pretty much over (unless you had a sled you didn't care...
