Re: plastic tubes on depower/safety lines - are they a good thing?

I don't have any evidence about wear, but I sure don't miss getting my fingers pinched/burned by the lines. I used to wax the line, and that helped a bit, but I like the tube so much better I won't go back. I ride with my hand right up against the line most of the time. Currently I have the new Ocea...

Re: Cabrinha Tronic good twin tip for knee injury?

My wife rides a Tronic. She says it cuts through chop very well. She had a Mako, which is also a good board for cutting through chop, but she likes the overall performance of the Tronic much better.

Surfing Un-hooked

I'm trying to get my head around surfing unhooked. Our wind is side off and unfortunately very gusty. While unhooked, there is no way to trim the bar in and out to help adjust for strong gusts and holes. While hooked, I'm constantly adjusting the bar to take up gusts, or keep from outrunning the kit...

Re: Switch to North from Cabrinha Kites ?

I've never used a Cabrinha bar on a North Kite, but have tried an Ozone bar, which is similar in that it has a low V like the Cabrinha bar. I tried it on an EVO and found the kite turned just as well, but lost a lot of power with the Ozone bar. I don't know the dynamics between the low V and high V ...

Re: Barsize for short arms ?

My wife has short arms and can't reach the trim strap on most bars. The Cabrinha 1X with trimlite bar's trim cleat/strap is 2"-3" closer to the rider than most other bars. That, combined with using a seat harness, makes it so she can adjust the trim strap while riding, and the bar is not out of her ...

Re: Gear that has exceeded your expectations!

I have to laugh that you're bored with kiting and enjoy surfing more. I'm just the opposite. I've been a hardcore surfer for over 40 years and only discovered kiting 4 years ago. I'm finally competent enough to get out into serious surf strapless. I wish I would have done this years ago. Paddle surf...

Re: kitesurfing

I've actually tried an Ozone bar on Evo kites. It flew OK but felt sluggish and had less power compared to the higher V North bar.

Re: Flite 14.5 or 17?

If this helps, for reference I weigh 83 kilos. My minimum riding a 5'4" tomo vanguard is 11 knots. At 11 knots I can cruise on a 14.5 flite, but not do to much else without loosing ground. For 10 knots I think maybe a 17 would be better.
