Re: Best ultra-lightwind hydrofoil

I think the Ketos Kruiser is currently the light wind foil of choice. The thing that stands out is low friction, it does not have as much drag for being a big wing that can also go slow. It can go slow and it can go fast. Not real fast but fast for a big wing. So you can get up on the foil and let t...

Re: my learning progession on a hydrofoil

I also started with a 21m Lotus 4, sweet kite. Not the first kite most people think of when starting to hydrofoil but it worked for me in low wind, light breeze that was maybe 8 knots. It just hung up in the air and was slowly pulled me around and did not want to over power me. Later I used the 15m ...

Re: New marginal wind weapon: Kruiser Lightwind

I normally ride the FR2 and if I am in rough water or waves then I go with the Wave XL. I also have the FR XL and the FreeRace. I did not really like FR XL and will sell it, it is a bigger version of the FR2 and does what it is suppose to do but was not as much fun. I really like the Kruiser but it ...

Re: FS Soul 15m or 18m for very lightwind foiling

I weight about 75 kg and have both the 15m and 18m Soul, actually I have all of them. The 15m is a very nice light wind kite but I prefer the 18m when the wind is 7 knots or less. The easy answer is to have both, the 15m is a little more versatile, the 18m is better for very light winds. I can still...

Re: Speed 5 vs. Soul

I have owned both but prefer the Soul. Once in the air, there is not a really big difference in my opinion. I prefer the lighter fabric and the relaunch of the Soul, just a super easy kite to launch. I actually prefer the way the Sonic 2 flies, more at the edge of the window and a little more nuance...

Re: New marginal wind weapon: Kruiser Lightwind

I tried the Freeride XL and it was ok but did not use it much and will sell it and get this one. I really like the Freeride wing but often I find myself in light wind, 6-7 knot ect.. and this would add to the fun.

Re: First foilkite

I think it would be a good value, the older kites fly great and you will have lots of fun. Many of us can find small technical improvements and waste time and money getting the latest cool kite but once you are out using the kite you will forget all that and just smile.

Re: Best "FreeRace" Foil Kite?

Currently the Sonic 2 is the best freeride kite, once you have lots of experience with it. Light bar pressure, responsive and like to move. That being said, not really the best for a first time foil kite purchase. You are probably looking for a 12m Soul, sits back a little further into the wind wind...

Re: how important is pre-inflation?

I use a foil board so not launching big kites in strong wind. I never bother to pre inflate anymore, I lay the kite directly down wind and get all the lines untangled, slowly launch the kite and use plenty of bar pressure to inflate the tips. The Soul is super easy to inflate so you can do whatever ...
