Re: Anyone tried foiling with a wing?

I'm interested to know if you can gain anything upwind on a SUP with a normal skeg fin? I haven't actually tried, but I would say no, a wing will not get you going upwind with just a normal SUP fin. Even with a hydrofoil you don't really make much progress upwind until you are up foiling. Ye...

Re: Light wind TT board length/width

I see several choices: Go for a door that is at least 50cm wide and at least 150cm long (preferrably zero rocker) or a large skim board. I use a 150x50 CrazyFly Cruiser and/or skim board (also have some 22 inch wide surf boards that work a treat). If the location is deep water, get a foil (the ulti...

Why is it always get a fucking foil? Every fucking time. He asked about a door, not a foil. Nobody cares that you foil.

Re: Light wind TT board length/width

I have been using my 135x46 TT for light wind riding (SB too slow). I was wondering if a longer board might get me riding in sub 9 knots (staying upwind) with my 21m Speed5? I am 200 lbs. Should I invest $600-800 in a "door"? Please advise. I see several choices: Go for a door that is at least 50cm...

Re: Anyone tried foiling with a wing?

I bought the duotone 5m wing ...... I like having the solid boom rather than hand loops. IF the water is deep enough and: If the wind is blowing 15 to 25 knots ..... I will pull out the 8' SUP/foil/wing and bounce around. If the wind is sub 15 ..... I will pull out the kite and foil. If the wind is ...

Re: The Duotone Wing

How long will it be until we start asking the deep questions: Does your wing drift? :-)

Re: The Duotone Wing

I have now had two weekends of mucking around on the duotone 5m wing and it is a heap of fun. I have not as yet gybed, tacked or successfully ridden toeside. But I have been able to go upwind and ride the little lake waves downwind and get that wonderfully lift that a big foil wind can give. I was e...

Re: The Duotone Wing

We've still two large clubs just up the lake from our kitesurf club, being filled up with university clubs and grumpy middle aged men. Our club has two large sheds full of windsurf gear that seems to be used by only two retired blokes...everyone else kites. Oh except for the SUP guy, who gave up ki...
