Re: Chicken Loop & Fireball - Harness Modification

The whole thing if done like that is a downside, dangerous and losing that very thing Fireball was designed for, to have more smooth and flexible connection. Epoxy is not suitable for gluing those plastics, actually no glue is. POM and many other high strength plastics are "greasy" and can be glued ...

Re: North Getting Serious About Foil Race Kites

One more high-spec race kite, apparently a two-liner, has some kind of half-cell structures at the LE, and who knows what kind of spars inside. Nothing new or very interesting. Just another big-money sailing product waiting to get sold at a 90% discount when the next model arrives. It's crazy how se...

Re: High Y vs Low V bars

I was listening to the podcast interview with Ralf Groesel and the analogy that came to mind after listening to him talk about how kites turn is that a high Y kite (4 line not the virtual bridle 5 line kites like the Vegas/old Rebel) will turn like a kite with lines at the length of the split point...

Re: High Pressure kite by Bruno Legaignoux

Interesting basic studying of high pressure tubes and well executed to be able to take that much pressure. Though that kite is somehow butchered now, after taking struts off and making crude modifications to canopy shape... One main reason why current kites are so effective is they are designed and ...

Re: Sonic 4 12m vs Chrono v4 11m

You can have whatever trim length if you have long enough line. Adding pulleys don't make range any longer, you just have more line there, and even more line hanging loose after trimming. If I got it right you claim Ozone standard bar has 11cm of trim range and race bar has 22cm. Latter sound about ...

Re: Sonic 4 12m vs Chrono v4 11m

If race trimmer has double amount of trimming range there is huge amount of line which hangs loose after trimming a lot. This free end can then wrap around your bar or harness hook or wherever... It is weird thought that having higher pulley ratio in trimmer would make trimming more efficient when i...

Re: Florida kiteboarder critically injured when he crashes into St. Peter pier

I see him starting to try and change direction close to pier When the kite gets overhead a strong gust boosts him up He slams in pier with the side-on wind direction I do not believe it was a jump attempt The news showed Florida's West coast had unsettled stormy weather on Friday You can see the wi...

Re: F-One spare parts

You can just cut old valve off with scissors because replacing valve has big enough material to cover hole anyway. Just be sure you don't stick new valve to other side of the bladder through the hole. To prevent this happen you can cut a piece of plastic (from thin bag etc.) with the hole in the mid...

Re: Want to break the Woo World Record, go snowkiting

Like I wrote it is a matter of definition what is accepted for a fair, "real jump". Wind gradient, gusts, uplifts and kickers are part of the sport but if kiter has obvious and unfair benefit which is seen as an abnormal vertical acceleration in Woo data jump will be disqualified. If we really wante...

Re: Want to break the Woo World Record, go snowkiting

Wayne, the Woo will not register glides. But it isn't enough to have Woo register a 'jump' because it can't comprehend what a jump is. And actually, to define fair jump isn't an easy task for even the people who build these measuring devices. But that doesn't mean it is at all difficult to tell wha...
