Re: Whose boosting on a hydrofoil?

I say 11m foil is the perfect boosting kite. It has tons of vertical lift and plenty of hangtime. That was my experience anyway on a sonic 2 demo. It was fast so you can redirect it and load the lines without screwing.up timing as much. I personally use a 15m sonic 1 to boost in 15kn. Plenty of powe...

Re: Sanding Foil for stability

So when I got my Sword 2 the trailing edges were all sharpened from the previous owner. I had great sessions with it up until I got to the top of it's range. It would feel like it wasn't holding its edge if that makes any sense. Turbulence would make it feel really uneasy. Just browsing along the f...

Re: Kite lines "shrinking", the making of an urban legend?

A good example of lines shrinking is by looking at foil kites. Over time ALL foil kite bridle lines shrink and at different rates depending on the amount of load of each line. The kite starts to misbehave and so must be retuned. There was a really good line stretching tutorial on another foil specif...

Re: Sanding Foil for stability

It was bondo 917. I dont mind redoing it periodically. The carbon dust and epoxy is a great idea. I may end up doing that for larger chips and scratches.

Re: Chrono V2 13 or 15 ?

You should try the v2 sonics. Amazing stability. Tried the chrono v2 in 15m and I found it to be far slower than a sonic v2 through loops. Never having to worry about the tips tucking in during tacks, jybes, and jumps is a huge plus. Since your question is in regards to either a 15m or 13m chrono v2...

Re: How to jump on hydrofoil?

For girst jumps go at a moderate speed. As you build up head upwind to tension your lines. As you bring the kite to twelve edge hard upwind and give back foot pressure. The foil should leave the water at about 11if port tack. That's for foil kites anyway. For lei I think it's at twelve. With landing...

Re: Preventive maintenance?

I go through the depower lines on my bar. I seem to go through them very quickly. I'll also go through the kite to see if any stitching is coming apart. (Flysurfer) every week I'll take a look for any cracks on my board and do repairs. For the foil I'll replace any screws that look any thing rusty. ...

Re: First foil plan... sound OK?

It's still steering a bit with front foot but it's actually more the hips. So where ever your front shoulder is point is where you'll head. Keep at it!

Re: G'me a break!

Onshore winds and waves always stink. I remember when I only had a 9m that it was literally impossible to body drag far enough to water start. There is also the fear of getting hit by a stingray at the forefront of my wind. I found that a larger kite and a lot more kicking really helped. I have a pa...
