Re: Boxer Water Re-Launch?

I have a 12m Boxer 2020 and if it gets on its back its a water anchor in light wind. With a medium NP glide I can get going in 10 knots. But if it hits the water I'm done. I think there is something wrong with the design. I drift launch every time I kite. So my thing has always been, if I can't wate...

Re: Turbulence while riding

I'm not an expert and have just gotten to the point of being able to ride both ways (switch feet). From my own experience I think what your feeling is turbulence you get from waves and currents. I learned to get up on the foil behind a boat and if you are in the prop wash area (anywhere behind the b...

Re: Best pocketboard for hydrofoil?

My fav. Pro Macho 33'' 1/2" thick, about 1kg/2 pounds? with spitfire duck foil. Insane maneuverability. This combi gives me the closest surfboard carving feel. 60cm mast, quite shallow waters where I ride. What is the spitfire duckfoil? The only thing I can make out from the picture is the r...

Re: Gorge - just moved from long island sound

I mean he moved right across the river from Portland, Oregon! I moved from the NW to the East Coast and it's been a real challenge as far as finding people to kite with. The nicest guy I kite with is 76 years old and it's been about a year since I've heard from him. I went back the Gorge this...

Re: Kiting in Florida

The problems in Florida can't be fixed. No one has the time to keep up with the busy body upper east coast snow-birds and privileged retirees that have nothing but time and money to bitch and moan about anyone that seems to be the least bit enjoying themselves. The worst group are the windsurfers, b...

Re: What I am doing wrong there?

Do you have your depower pulled all the way in? I had this same thing with my Ocean Rodeo Rise kites. They are designed this way with very little bar pressure and are really sensitive to input. This is how they looked when you launched them. The wind would blow the steering lines out like that. They...

Re: Best place to learn to foil on East Coast

With a short mast you can foil most anywhere in the sound at Cape Hatteras. And once out in the sound after a little body dragging you can foil with full mast, plus at Canadian Hole if not too busy, plus in a narrow strip off Kite Point. That's where I have foiled on the east coast, although once c...

Best place to learn to foil on East Coast

Ok.... Here is my situation. I've had about 5 - 1 hour sessions on a Zeeko spitfire with large wings and a short mast (2+ft). Probably not the best board to learn but it's all I have now and I can't afford another. I'm in SE Florida (Stuart) and conditions are 2-3 foot waves followed by chop. I feel...

Re: Your worst kitesurf injury ?

Got scared jumping and kicked my board off and slammed it with my shin when I came down. It hurt but tooled around for another hour. When I came in and peeled off my wet-suit there was a 2 inch tear in my skin and the muscle was exposed. Lucky my wife is a physician, she cleaned it and stitched me u...
