Re: Bar for foiling

Agree, I do not recommend an 8m Peak in 13kts to hydrofoil with. I was trying to describe what the 5.5m NASA Star felt like at 13kts. Agree again, 2-line/fixed-bridle kites are not recommended for kite surfing, ok for trainer kites or experienced buggy riders. I learn a bit more when I try new thing...

Re: Bar for foiling

I think I misunderstood “no depower”. When I read the posts, no depower meaning no trimming of the depower. The bars discussed still depower the kite with sheeting, just no trim of the sheeting/depower. A single skin fixed bridle kite pulls very hard for its size. Old rule was fixed bridle foil kite...

Re: Bar for foiling

Added a leash to 1 line on one of the bars, single skin 2 line kites fold up and fall with one line slack. But if looping the kite that safety setup doesn’t work…

Re: Bar for foiling

Today I finished 2 bars ordered by a friend who wants to use them with UFO kites (so far I have only recommended these bars for singleskin kites). At his request, the bars are without safety and depower. I often fly my small Clouds without safety or depower. Nice simplification of the bar setup. No...

Re: Windrange on foil - what kite to get?

Here's approximations from several kites I’ve had a chance to try with hydrofoils.

Re: Windrange on foil - what kite to get?

I´m 75 kg and ride a 950 cm² Alpine foil (wave/freeride) and a f-one SK8 750. With 3-4-5-7 m² Ufo kites. You need the 7-5-4 m² Ufos to cover the given range between 10 kts and 20 kts. Maybe the 7 m² could be a bit small for 10 kts, then take the 8 instead (and maybe shift the other two up one size,...

Re: Can this be repaired?

and by the way, that’s exactly the weak point of Supermodels and Pivots. In Supermodel HTF in that point they doubled the layer of ripstop, with the pivot… still a problem ( the start of the rip is visible even in the Naish commercial…). Suggestion for the owners: place outside some psp tape before...

Re: Cabrinha contra 1 strut 9m vs 11m

I picked up a deal on a 9m Contra, but 90kg here. In lower winds I like to use a 12m foil kite (Chrono) even lower winds the 12m foil kite with a 28m line bar or 15m foil kite…and swim fins just in case :D
