Re: Pocketboard question

I have used many pocket board sizes. Personally I have 2 105cm boards and 2 80 cm boards. 80cm boards are for travelling (fits suitcase). 105cm is for regular use. I don't think weight matters at all when choosing your pocket boards. Hydrofoil front wing is much more important. So heavier dudes just...

Re: Sonic or Soul for foiling progresion

Pick Soul if you - Want a kite that is easy to fly. - That does not backstall easily. - That behaves like a tube kite. - That has decent upwind (not great) angles. - That jumps well (they both do). - That is very easy to relaunch. - That is very easy to drift launch - That is easy to handle in gusty...

Re: Hydrofoil low end (~7-11knots)

Pete's writing is spot on. I launch the Peak's around the house, walk around the house with the kite up, land in between houses, dump it in the garden while foiling in, sometimes a bit sketchy and one time i had to dump it in the water while standing in the garden. I can do this al alone, no help n...

Re: Hydrofoil low end (~7-11knots)

Hi, I kite in same type of conditions. Gusty small lake. Personally I prefer about 1000cm2 front wing. My weight is 80kg I use about 70% of time FS Sonic 3. About 20% of time 13m sonic 3 and 10% of time 9m Sonic 3. It depends what you want to do. Small lake equals no waves. So I would forget peak. ...

Re: Hydrofoil low end (~7-11knots)

Hi, I kite in same type of conditions. Gusty small lake. Personally I prefer about 1000cm2 front wing. My weight is 80kg I use about 70% of time 18m FS Sonic 3. About 20% of time 13m sonic 3 and 10% of time 9m Sonic 3. We seldom have strong winds so I get to use my 6m soul 2 or 3 times a year. It de...

Re: Kiting where you cannot!

And I guess it ends up with a deep water pack down and a swim? And a big dryout overnight? Well i kited back to our pier and dropped the kite to water. Rolled the lines. Let the kite dry on the pier and then rolled it. Not too tricky. Fresh water is not harmful for your gear and atleast it is sand ...

Re: Kiting where you cannot!

Nice :thumb: And in this scenario it is just the opposite, you would have no chance of winging it in these conditions, whatsoever, but on a kitefoil it is possible quite well with experience  Looks like you dont use the shortest lines, how long? 8) Peter About 16-18 meters depending the kite ...

Kiting where you cannot!

In the wing foiling scene there is often talk that it enables you to foil in places where kiting would be impossible. That is simply not true. You can kite as long as you have 3m/s of wind and over 1m deep water. There are no other pre requirements. Here is a short clip of me kiting in our family co...

Re: an ultimate weapon for marginal wind ?

I have tried gin marabou 12m and I can easily kite in less wind with my 17m R1V2. Would be interested to try your mod. I have been thinking of doing the same but could not bother because of the extra work. Rather spend that time training foil pumping. Ultimate lowend for me is Flysurfer race 21m. Bu...
