Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Grand Mesa report. Received a 4' dump of powder last weekend firmed up to about a 15" base today . Winds steady at 10 with gusts to 16 made for a powder tracking session. 7.3 miles of tracking mixed with a liberal dose of jumps just to top off the day. Hit 23 mph, not bad in 16" of powder. The JGG J...

Re: When is "Big" too big?

:D So I finally got my wish, I got wind. Steady winds 12 to 14 Gusts 16 to 18. 18 + inches of beautiful untouched fresh powder. Tom, Todd and myself hit it hard. Tom had the best session he's probably ever had on the Mesa. Todd did ok but was way underpowered on his 10. I had a few small snafus like...

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Headed out on machines today to check out some back areas of the Grand Mesa. Todd, Steve, Tom and myself, two snowmobiles, and the wind. Matt did say blowing like stink?? Well we called it by 3ish winds nuking! Tom got some good slashes at the beginning. Winds boarding on 20 mph. I blew up my 11m. T...

Re: Kiting specific Snowboard design and size thoughts?

[quote You might possibly be able to talk to the guys at Never Summer. They do everything by hand on their splits and might possibly do some kind of custom for you.quote] Funny how things work. I just spent the last two days watching 4 videos on making a board from beginning to end by Never Summer. ...

Re: Kiting specific Snowboard design and size thoughts?

I'm correcting myself with a bit more research I did find a thread on this topic. Thanks for the hint on spark bindings. And I never thought of water jetting the board. Unfortunately the Rad boards mentioned by Fernmanus are directional. Does any other manufacturers make longer or wider twin tips?

Re: When is "Big" too big?

Thought I would put in a quick note here. Snow Mesa this weekend with Matth and friends was Awesome! Light wind day one, put in the Turbos with no blowers on the 21 Soul. 10 to 12 mph winds, the kite filled beautifully. No effort on my part other than putting in and taking out the Turbos.( See above...

Kiting specific Snowboard design and size thoughts?

I'm starting to get very frustrated with snowboarding with my kite. I, like many people could loose some weight. I've always been heavy, very big boned. In my defense i played football and ran track in high school and graduated at 212 pounds. Yesterdays scale 216 4 pounds difference. Also being hone...

Re: When is "Big" too big?

Turbo chargers check. Super light wind 6 to 7 mph put in the turbos added two battery operated blowers for air beds. By the time I had the lines out and walked, the kite was 40 to 50% inflated. Time from hitting the snow to kite flying 20 minutes much better than day 1 1.5 hrs. The amazing thing is ...
