Re: Croatia?

Heh, Nick, I might be in Sreser this August. We should catch up. I was thinking to rent a boat so could get to Neretva when wind is ok. Not sure where would I anchor tho, very shallow there. oh, and Omiš has the longes zip line in Croatia, if remember well it is above the Cetina river canyon. The o...

Re: Croatia?

my plan for this summer is a downwinder to the new Peljesac bridge.
Last year I made it probably half the way on a TT, but with no boat support or even a mobile phone it was a risky call to go all the way down.
With a foil coming back upwind should be no issue.

Re: Croatia?

Plenty. Dugi Rat near Omiš is nice, ... Last year on my way back I discovered a small spot in Omis, close to Dugi Rat (see the map screenshot). There were few TT beginners struggling with 13-15m kites, but a local explained that the wind is ~200m away from shore, you just need to body drag there. A...

Re: SLS vs non-SLS (Evo) - long-term durability, construction (thinner bladders?)

So an in between material Aluula - Dacron? A step up from good old (but heavy) dacron, but still a polyester with coating. Aluula and Hookipa are different spices. As regard stiffness (bias stretch) - yes, DLE140 (PentaTX) is better than the Teijin (Marubeni) soft dacron used by Duotone, but same/s...

Re: help me with wetsuit sizing

Tough call! P.S. If you don't find anything that fits you well, I know people who do 'made to measure' wetsuits in Europe. P.S.S. Just ran into a friend who's 190/75kg - Mystic Majestic 5/4 LT fits him good, just a bit loose in the torso. I'm 175/75kg and have a ION Strike Core 4/3 ST which fits me ...

Re: Are thinner Kitelines a lot more performing??

There was a thread about this before. Some of us have experimented with light lines for foiling. For low tension foiling, I use 130kg front lines and 90kg back lines made from Jerry Brown Line One fishing line. So far they last as long as regular lines. I’d go thinner but they become so thin to han...

Re: Re-Splicing used Kite lines

Lines look great to me honestly. That fraying seems to be affecting 1/100th of the line strength.. However, The Heavily worn area by the Splices should be removed/ respliced. And most importantly , YOU MUST TAPER! I snapped all 4 lines at the NON tapered spot during a loop once. Never again Spot on...

Re: Re-Splicing used Kite lines

If you can splice why take risks?! Yes, you can make a spare line set for foiling, but no more than that.

Re: ISO Mast for 2020 Cabrinha foil

All Cabrinha masts from 2017 to 2020 have the same hole patterns and outside dimensions. But the newer masts from 2020 (silver/grey) are stiffer than the older ones (mostly blue). Nevertheless I would say the combination with your (quite small) Carve-wing and an old (quite short) 65cm Mast will wor...

Re: low end: 11m single strut vs 13m 3 struts

The 13m Contra is a no go for foiling at your weight. Been there done that (75kg). I haven´t demoed the 11m 1S yet, but I happen to have its 10m 3strut predecessor - the Neilpryde CRX. A very decent allrount kite that only lacks the ultimate low-end the 2,45kg 1S apparently has (for a LEI kite). Her...
