Re: Learning with an inflatable or splitboard + kite

I have a Gong HIPE 4'8". I went with inflatable vs split with the idea that the setup could double as a prone FoilSurf travel setup. I've only tried it once. It was my first time flying a new kite, and first time attempting to strapless waterstart, so not a fair test. I missed the hard-edge rails of...

Re: Anyone use climbing helmet kiting?

I've used a similar helmet for years. Pretty comfy. No issues. Definitely better than nothing. Maybe a watersports helmet is safer, since it has a little floatation and is more likely to keep your mouth out of the water if you're unconscious? I use mine with this sun brim: https://dabrim.com/collect...

Re: Best pumping foil?

How about optimal board volume to flatwater foil SUP start? Or optimal board volume /rider weight? Liter/kG? Or kg of rider weight per liter of board volume? I’m thinking of buying a Gong foil sup setup for flatwater foiling this fall. What board size should I get if my goal is to learn to flatwate...

Re: Inflatable Hydrofoil boards, are we there yet?

Sounds like people are having better luck with the tuttle boxes on the Manta than with the F-One inflatable boards?

Re: new Peter Lynn Synergy single strut kite

So how does this offering compare to the Ultra, Alpha, etc? Other top lightweight 1 strut kites?

An improvement, or an also-ran?

Re: Fastest Foil Combo (To beat AC 75)

For current kite racers, is top speed really limited by the kite and drag of the human body? I thought it was limited by drag/cavitation/ventilation of the foil? Top speed for the AC boats seems to be limited by forces from 20+ knot winds? Because the boat would explode? If the difference is really ...

Re: Peak Foil

Look at SUP. Pioneered by wave riders, but adopted by the masses for flatwater.

If technology could improve enough for foilSUP flatwater starts to become attainable for the masses, then foiling would expand 10x or 100x.

Re: Fastest Foil Combo (To beat AC 75)

Top speed?
Upwind VMG?
Downwind VMG?

Are you looking for a GPS speed number, to to beat the AC boats around the racecourse?

About learning strapless: Foothooks

They let you control the board enough for a waterstart, but let you eject without ankle injuries.

Can not recommend them enough.
