Re: Foil for beginning and carving

Precisely my point elmarco, personally I would go for a tad smaller thus faster and more fun wing, when flat water. They are still easy to jibe and make transitions at quite low speed, so just as he said, unless a beginner (not wanting a long term foil), I would aim for something around 800 to 1000 ...

Re: Foil for beginning and carving

The Moses 633 with an 91 cm mast, then you got a really good combo. Not very fast, and not what I would choose for flat water because of this, but fits your question perfectly. A relatively big wing, low aspect. Any of these wings (if a well designed foil, but most are) will give you an easy foil th...

Re: how do you retrieve someone elses foil board?

First option is to just point out where it it to any boardless rider and simply help guide them back to it on their own. Peter's option is a good one, but has plenty of exceptions. Odds are your retrieving a board for a relative beginner and they may bave difficulty with your small strapless set up...

Re: Foil Gybe Advice

16 session today and I can do this both ways without looking at the kite. Lets back it up to TT and surfboard to get a better picture. TT - we dive the kite toward the water and when it goes back up, mid point we send it the other way and we follow it at full speed. Surfboard - we send the kite all...

Re: how do you retrieve someone elses foil board?

If a downed kite, I drop my own board, and ride or drag his/her board back to him/her so possible to sit on the board for safe relaunch, or drift to shore. And then drag myself back to my own board :thumb: If someone you know well, just ride and give him/her your board, while you drag to the lost bo...

Re: Spitfire-cannards in general

Hi I rode the first Spitfire for a long time, about 3 years ago, liked it a lot, and very lively, so fun in waves. But too small by the standards in wing size we have had over the last many years now. Last year I rode the XLW for some time, with a 108 cm pocket board. It had the perfect size for wav...

Re: Smaller lower aspect wing vs. bigger higher aspect

Higher aspect wings are more efficient. They make more lift per a given amount of drag. This is why they are used on race foils, sailplanes, and the sails of racing yachts. But they fly at a lower range of angles of attack, which means they generally will not go as slow, nor will they tolerate mist...

Re: Shorter board is less playful...!

This thread is about where you stand, feet position, the balance point of your hydrofoil, and not about how changing the design affects dynamics.

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

Yes, it works great in the rain, does not get as heavy as double skins :thumb:

Was out today in at times heavy rain with the 5 m2.
