Re: Windspeed for Chrono foiling

I live in different conditions but I don't even consider a 9m race kite until about 20 knots. Race kite quivers are going sort of this direction, with some adjustment for rider weight and such: 21m: 6-10 knots. 15m: 10-15 knots. 11m: 15-20 knots. 9m: 20+ knots. On a bigger foil wing, you can probab...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

Just put sand on the tip, not only the trailing edge.
Don't fold it, as too risky it will open prematurely.
But sand from the trailing edge and almost to the leading edge, at the windward tip.

Works like a charm for launching quite sideways if needed on location, or if really windy.

Re: Pre aneurism in bladder

Maybe it could be the valve? I have experienced Boston valves which when very used needed to be tightened more (or a new sealing ring), as otherwise it can have a very slow leak. The same could probably be the case for other valve systems, and it shows by sometimes holding air just fine, other times...

Re: Had Low Wind Breakthrough For Big Guys Like Me 100 kg

Snip..... I really rely on having quite a large power zone for the kite and I achieve this primarily by having 32m race lines. Makes a huge difference to me getting started. True, this goes for all weights but the bigger the more important. It is not only the longer powersweep that helps hugely, bu...

Re: What influences going upwind

You could switch rigs part or whole and test rider ability . Best upwind board I have found is or duke or mako , but I only tried a few. Rider weight and ability is big factor , you can tell that when you switch gear. No, you cant. It takes months, maybe half a year for some, till you can use a new...

Re: Pre aneurism in bladder

All bladders without exception do like yours, when pumped up outside the LE. Bladder will still work just fine now, even after this aneurism, so just use it. But next time you seek a very small pinhole, or any bigger puncture, first locate the area like you have done, with kite pumped hard, either w...

Re: Gin Kiteboarding Spirit

If it flies a lot further forward in the window, it can not drift as well. You can't have both. So now I am puzzled as to whether it flies far forward, or drifts? As it is closed cell, I believe it could be the first, but if low AR it could be a compromise. BTW, a Soul does not have good lowend, but...

Re: Wing surface area definitions?

Agree, it is impossible to compare foil wings, as every parameter is important. Even volume is not a measure of lift/drag at all, as camber and LE rounding means a lot more. Apart from, as said, AR and sweep. So the more numbers available, the better, and Gong is quite good at this, compared to many...
