Re: 20 years of kiteforum

When did this kiteforum start?

Could see a post from you Toby 11 Nov 2001, or was it earlier?

I joined Okt 2002, but as I remember we could post as "guests" when it started :D

Thanks for keeping this forum running Toby :thumb:

Re: best size wing (underwater!) for riding unbroken swell

The higher AR the better glide, period. But they can be tricky to ride, and if not small turns worse. Most wingers ride unbroken swell or waves (only) The difficult part is, swell, the better the faster, will overtake you. So you need a fast wing, meaning small. Your faster speed will make up for th...

Re: Snow Winging - Observations from my first time out

I don't know how much 10 mph is...

But you can also try with skates, really easy and no problem down to 4-5 knots of wind because of apparent wind, sometimes in less wind if black ice.

Practicing tacks and 360s is also perfect :thumb:

Re: Strange situation with lines - Any explanations?

As others have said, a crash can stretch lines un-evenly... Which is the most likely here. Having said that, two other things: Some gets used to a little right/left difference (many in fact as I HATE it so notice immediately when borrowing another kite) so it might very well be "off" from the start....

Re: Cape Town Diary 2022/23

You are "regular" so not easy jumping when wind from the right I can understand.

But being regular with (the atypical) wind from the right, means you have the perfect bang on power cutback surfing conditions, correct?

Good to hear from you.

Re: "The Hybrid" from Flysurfer

Agree, the Hybrid has a lot more "normal" feel regarding bar sheeting, meaning it does not stall on a supershort travel like with Peaks, so more difficult to backstall down yes. I put the 7.5 on the side the last time, staked, it just stayed put and I could go to the kite and pack it down, or sand i...

Re: Copa Kitley GWA Wingfoil World Cup Brazil 2022

Really good to watch this event, in so many aspects. The way they can rotate and land on the wave again, impressive. But also the slalom discipline - how some riders simply just SPEEDS so much faster than others, at times, and no direct synergi, sometimes the huge wings were faster. sometimes the sm...

Re: Wingcraft V1 vs V2

I agree, in theory.... Thats why so many early "second" generation boards were super thick and wide and short, seemed like the perfect way to go. I got myself one of these too, it had to be ideal :thumb: But now I have found it isnt the full truth, as a bit longer and thinner board has so many advan...

Re: COR electric pump

I havent followed the "pump" scene for years (not relevant when using surfboards and foils, you never have to pump kites bigger than 7 max 9 m2) But the two stage pumps we used back in the days, is it 15 years ago? worked fine, although not small. They were two stage, high flow for starters, and cha...
