Re: Pansh Kestrel, new high performance kite

I finally followed other's example & removed the "turbo" line on my 10m for lower bar pressure & finer control. In my case, I cut the turbo line where it is attached to the C level block, and then turned it into a short pigtail at the other end, by adding a knot just beyond the sewn loop & trimming ...

Re: Pansh Kestrel, high performance kite

So there you have it, folks. Kite design, bridle, and mixer adjustments, they're all part of the game. Finding that perfect balance between performance and stability, that's what it's all about. And nobody knows kites better than me, believe me! Still trying to decide whether to be amused or mildly...

Re: Self rescue on a 15/18/21 foil kite- advantages of different methods

+1 to what others have said about rolling up lines & then rolling the kite around the bar, starting from the tips. Done carefully, this will result in a compact package & won't tangle lines. I usually place the kite roll on the board, and then swim on my back pulling the board using swim fins carrie...

Re: the Hawk from Pansh

Recently got a Hawk 6m for strong / gusty conditions. First impressions are quite good. Very stable, turns fast, and generates decent pull through the turns which helps getting going when underpowered. No race kite of course. The bridle could definitely use some cleanup / thinning. Fully sheathed br...

Re: LE Stiffeners

The Pansh Aurora also deforms some around the leading edge, especially when going upwind at the top of the kite's range. I honestly wouldn't worry about it too much. There are several other design factors that contribute to the deformation, most of which aren't easy to change. If it still bothers yo...

Re: Flysurfer sonic Race

One trade-off with latest-gen race kites like the Sonic Race is that they have been quite aggressively optimized for weight, which comes at the cost of some robustness in crashes. While the Sonic Race does not seem to suffer from the exploding rib syndrome of the Ozone R1v2 (more ribs and better rib...

Re: LE Stiffeners

Just measured the nylon rods on my F-One Diablo, as I need to replace one. The diameter is 2mm.

10m of this stuff ship for less than $2 on ebay or aliexpress. Search terms: "2mm nylon grass trimmer line".

Re: Flysurfer sonic Race

Thanks to a friend I got to try out an 11m Sonic Race today. Conditions were fairly gusty 15-25 knots. I was on a race foil & 12m lines. Compared to the 11m Diablo 2 I usually ride (and used back-to-back today), I found the Sonic to be a lot easier to handle. The slightly higher arc makes it turn ve...

Re: LE Stiffeners

@pugetsoundkiter, there was also a thread about attaching rods externally & slightly to the side of ribs, which might be interesting for retrofitting: http://www.paraglidingforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=79154

Re: LE Stiffeners

The stiffeners are basically grass cutter nylon line, which is sold in many hardware stores. According to http://www.paraglidingforum.com/viewtop ... e0#p244350, the first paraglider used them in 1999.
