Re: Progression for the next holidays (beginner)

Yeah not sure how much kiteloop training you'll get in in SA. My friend has been seriously held back as he thinks all other kiters are 'dangerous'. The only dangerous kiters are the beginners. Anyone that can hold an edge and transition is likely to be able to stop and go the other way long before t...

Re: Board rescue

Half the time I try and go for a rescue its with someone that has ventured out too deep, can't body drag upwind efficiently and then decides they are best parking their kite right above the board at the last minute. Nowadays I'll only rescue it if the board is more than 50m away. The other problem I...

Re: Open Palm Mitts and Pogies

Probably the best value piece of kit. Just buy them. I think mine were kayaking open mits. Like the booties, split thumb and 4 fingers. Great when it's cold.

Re: Tried a backroll, broke some ribs!

getting little sympathy from my wife who's a medical type person. Yeah I get that too. "What do you mean you are sick with the flu, that's not sick, I've seen a guy lose 2 limbs today." Zero sympathy, ever. Kiting based injury isn't an injury at all, as it's always my own fault it doesn't count som...

Re: Best Wetsuit for kitesurf? 4/3

winter custom fit 5.5/4. Summer suit just a cheapy that fit well in the shop. Balloon legs stopped with a red hot nail. The best sessions, for me, seem to be in the winter- the colder air is heavier and therefore stronger so I bought expensive for that. The summer is far too hot with that suit on- d...

Re: Floatation/impact vest

A lot depends on wind conditions at my local spot. If it's pure onshore I don't use the vest as I don't have to go far out to tack back. If it's cross shore I will wear the vest. If it's in between I will make the call but I have been caught out. I always wear the vest when sea temps are really cold.
