Re: How loose footstaps should be on a TT?

Super loose. Locked in feels way nicer until you have to bail. Then bailing and losing one foot was catastrophic.

Re: Why aren't all kite valves Halkey-Roberts?

I agree they are 'better' than kite valves but they are too heavy. I think the eleveight valves are the best for kites. The seals and one way valve are easily replaced without opening the zip.

Re: Wind forecast accuracy

I think the 'best" model varies from spot to spot. I used to say arome was the best for next day but it's been woefully over optimistic this summer. Windguru live wind stations are another fixation. The stations at camber and greatstone are good- unfortunately wwe dont have one at my local spot. Tha...

Re: Crashing hard

I had 1 similar incident after catching an edge at high speed in big waves and rough chop. I think I only fell about 2m but being fully horizontal and still moving at over 25knt meant the landing was savage. I also had the stuck lungs sensation and thought my they wouldnt 'reinflate' whilst doubled ...

Re: Leading Edge bladder repair advise

Did it explode when you pumped it? Did you wrap the ends properly and fold them over themselves I to their little pockets before velcro-ing shut? They need to be locked to pocket thing.

Re: Leading Edge bladder repair advise

Hello Saxie, I’ve repaired 2 kites with the same problem, on both bladder ends… I did it wrong at first, which was really unnerving, because nobody like to see his kite falling deflated from the sky! Then I found a way to improve my repair: first a good glue (aquaseal), then a way to lay flat the a...

Re: What influences going upwind

Riding hard upwind is easy.

1) go somewhere busy
2) look for a guy riding fast
3) follow them until you face plant

You will get better at everything.

Re: Core XR5 back lines too tense

Not normal but different models and brands do have varying degree of slack. If there was none at all it would be very difficult to launch and incredibly dangerous.

Re: First day after lessons

Go on the marginal days and practice what to do when the kite is backstalling into the power zone or somersaults on you. Dont go out in more than 25knt gusts on your 12m unless you have loads of room down wind. I dont know the spot but theres no way I'd rig my beginner buddies in 30knt gusts on a 12...

Re: Sunscreen which doesn't give you the urge to rip your eyes out?

A consumer product program in the UK- a few years back- recommended buying the children's version of suncream. We buy it anyway (so end up using it) and I think it is a bit less heisenberg bath tub in your eyeballs. I kite in a really silty sea. It's not a problem until he drive home when the silt w...
