Kiting in Toronto

I am heading to Toronto at the end of June for a few days. I am staying in the downtown/financial district, which looks to be very close to Cherry Beach. Does anyone have any first-hand knowledge of that spot or any other spots nearby. I will not have a car and most likely try to connect with a loca...

Re: recomendations - walk to kite launch

Paracas Peru has consistent thermal winds, warm water, and a range of accommodations near the kite spot (hotel, condos, smaller motels). It is a four hour drive from Lima and there is not much nightlife, but the kiting is great.

Re: Wetsuit question - tight ankles

Tight ankles, depends on the brand. I find this technique helps for putting on tight suits: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q43s88-bxJE I have found that I have been going up in size the thicker the suit, i.e. Within 1 brand: L for 1 mm, XL for 3/2, XXL for 4/3. The thinner the suit, the more stret...

Re: Wetsuit question - tight ankles

Most 5 mil suits will be tight. Ankle socks help your foot slide through easier. Just take them off once you get the suit on.

Re: Cabrinha Tronic SS vs Slingshot Super Natural

I ride an older Tronic 144 twin tip in chop and it's great. The rocker, flex, and outline really help to soften the ride. Durability is top notch too. It is much smoother than the Slingshot Misfit I have, which is marketed as an all-around freeride board. I mainly ride the Tronic in 2-3 foot chop wi...

Re: Hot days; bad for kiting!

It was hot, humid, and windy this past week. I'll take shorts over a full suit any day. This is not an opinion on climate change, rather appreciation for epic summer conditions.

Re: Hot days ; bad for kiting!

it's just the narrative to guide us like an herd. The "magical solutions" for a "green world" led Europe to Russia dependency, when decided to shut down nuclear power plants and demonize coal and fossil fuel energies. Now Europe has a bunch of power panels that shut down in the winter due to snow. ...

Re: Unwanted Rotation on Big Airs

Which direction was the rotation? Your chest rotating into the wind (which means you are twisting your hips too much at take-off) or the other way causing you to fly backwards (caused by not twisting into your jump enough at take off) My front foot and shoulder were turning downwind or in toward th...

Unwanted Rotation on Big Airs

We had some epic conditions out on Long Island this past Friday. Sunny, warm water, 20+ knots. I was riding power up and boosting on a twin tip. On some of the bigger jumps, my front foot was unintentionally rotating 90-120 degrees. This only happened on the bigger jumps with more hangtime. I ate it...
