Re: PIQ North Kiteboarding

My PIQ has been working great for about a month. Then, last session, it started over reporting the jumps during the last half of the session. The error was so large that it made me #1 on the world leaderboard. I guess there may be some errors every once in awhile but every jump in the second half of...

Re: PIQ North Kiteboarding

First impression of the PIQ from North compared to Woo sensor. The Piq registered 5 more jumps than the woo and report my highest jump to 19.7 ft whereas the woo reported the highest jump at 20.3 ft. The onboard display of the PIQ is really nice although hard to see in the bright sun or while the bo...

Re: Strapless board for a big guy

The point is that you're not always riding powered when kite "surfing". Sometimes you are drifting and actually surfing the wave and this is when volume matters. ... but because you're not always riding above this threshold volume still matters. LOLStfu. If you're not in planing mode you didn't pick...

Re: Advice on choosing an intermediate kite.

I test flew a Union and then decided to buy a 2017 Lithium because if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Any physics based kiteboarding videos ?

I'm been looking for some videos that explain the physics of kiteboarding. Stuff like pendulum, aerodynamics, jumping and all that. I've found a few threads but no videos. I'm thinking it could be done with the video output of the kiteboarding video game as long as the game is based on the physics. ...

Re: Strapless board for a big guy

Volume matters in a surfboard because with more volume the switch from float to plane happens easier (ie. with less force required). If you're on a very low volume surfboard and the wave slows down a bit you slow and sink into the water easily. But with more volume the board can float you a little b...

Advice on choosing an intermediate kite.

Today my 8m Lithium popped on the beach. It's not worth repairing. I have a 6m and 10m Lithium along with an 8m slingshot wave sst. I'm wondering whether it is worth it to possibly replace the 8m with a "high performance all rounder" such as the Union or Neo, etc. I don't currently feel held back by...

Re: What determines how loose a surfboard feels?

I'm no expert but this is how I understand it. "Looseness" can be defined by how much effort is required to make the board turn. A few things determine this : 1. board length : longer means more angular momentum, requires more force to turn 2. fin configuration : when turning, side fins simply move ...

Re: I don't believe in Flex !

The forces involved when doing a tight turn or bottom turn are far greater then anything you can simulate with just your body weight. The ability of a board to flex a little and then spring back can mean a lot when riding a wave and doing high force maneuvers. The marketing hype is mostly just hype ...
