Re: Does kiteboarding affect your sleep?

I sleep like a baby after a good session. I've had some pretty good dreams about kiteboarding too!

Re: Ram air first session damage

Put my 12m Soul in a tree and ripped a seam along an intake along with some other internals getting it out. After the repairs were done I checked the bridles and did a long mixer test prior to flying it again. Absolutely no problems, just normal minor shrinkage and did not have to adjust anything. F...

Re: I'm not convinced (but want to be)

The biggest obstacle for me is the cost of new equipment. I'm 6'2", 200 lbs., so from what I've gleaned from this forum is that I need a 120-140 liter board, 1600-2400 hydrofoil, and a 6m wing. Cost $3000+ new. Not sure if there is that much used equipment on the market where I live. Would like to d...

Re: Foot swolen after intensive 2 weeks - anyone suffered the same problem?

You could try moving the strap locations if your board has multiple inserts to see if that helps.

Re: Kiteboarding with a kidney transplant?

Can you stay afloat for 45 minutes without any floation? (can use clothing for flotation) Can you stay afloat without floatation indefinitely, not using your arms or legs? Can you swim with your hands tied behind your back, dive 12 feet down and pick up a ring in your mouth, swim length of olympic s...

Re: Cabrinha Airlock valve functionality

When you screw in the valve, do not tighten it too much until the kite is close to being fully inflated as you risk twisting the bladder. After fully inflating, tighten the valve and then back it off just a bit. If you overtighten it, the rubber oring/gasket could "bunch up" causing it to deform and...

Re: Do expensive wetsuits last longer?

Quality neoprene material, type of seam/quality and fit (especially) make the difference. In my case I have a hard time finding the right fit in a full wetsuit. Seems they are made for shorter people (my torso may be longer than most). Finally had to go to a XXL to get the right fit. I am not a firm...

Re: Sharks off Cape Hatteras

I've never been in the water on the Atlantic coast when I did not see a shark. Seen many here on the Florida west coast. Got bit by a small blacktip years ago. Besides it's getting close to Shark Week - https://www.discovery.com/shark-week Got to watch Mike Tyson on August 9 at 9pm "Tyson versus Jaw...

Re: Kiteboarding with a kidney transplant?

Welcome to the forum!! Go for it!! When I first saw kitesurfing in 2000 (I was 47), I told myself I have got to do this before I get too old. Little did I know then. Now I'm almost 67 and have kiting friends that are several years older than me, in particular an 80 year old friend from Canada. For ...

Re: DIY Foil Kites

Has anyone attempted to build a DIY single skin foil kite? Seems like it should be simpler to build.
