Re: We filmed a kite beach for 8 hours ... crashes

One of my local spots was like that today. Was almost hit by a tomahawked kite when starting out. One kiter almost took my head off when he changed direction abruptly without looking to see that I wss down wind and behind him about 75 yards. He dove the kite right into me and I ducked to avoid his b...

Re: I'm less addicted, kiting less and now i'm a better person because of it.

I've been addicted to wind since I went sailing in the Abaco's in a tropical depression in 1973. Raced sailboats in the 80's, windsurfed in the 90's and kitesurfed since 2001. I love to kite alone, even if it is mowing the lawn. It's my exercise and therapy. There's something about harnessing the po...

Re: Best wetsuits for kiting 2020

A new thing in surf wetsuits is sewing in some Eva foam.. like small floaties. interesting idea. Could become a thing.. I want one that will give me bigger pecs, biceps, etc. Seriously, I am looking to replace my old Quiksilver 3/2 with a 4/3 before it gets too cold. I loved my Quiksilver as ...

Re: climate change /unpredictable weather/wind

Your question "has global warming and climate change, changed your winds at your local " really cannot be answered as climate change is a global phenomenon, not local. Indeed it may affect local weather, but who is to say that local weather conditions are the result of climate change or the normal l...

Re: How to pump struts with no stopper ball?

If the balls have fallen into the strut bladder, then the only option is to pinch the valve. They will probably slowly leak as the stopper is not usually that airtight. If the balls were removed somehow and the bladder still can contain a ball in the valve (look closely inside the valve to see if th...

Re: 10 Commandments of Kitesurfing

Also... Do not pump up three kites, leaving two on the beach (not even nesting them, with bars and lines all over the place) while riding with the other one. Better yet, only pump up the kite you are going to use.

Re: Flysurfer Soul

No problems with pulleys on my Soul, Speed 5 or any other kites. After each session I wash/spray each pulley with fresh water and make sure it runs freely. Also I check for wear on the mixer and bridle lines.

Re: Self-Land a Soul

I do it most of the time with my Soul and Speed 5 in light to moderate winds. Once the kite is trailing edge down, I unhook and leave the bar on the sand, walking hand over hand to the kite, making sure I keep a good grip on all lines so they do not slip. When I get to the mixers I will release one ...

Re: Should professional kiters carbon offset their (many) flights?

Should unprofessional riders offset CO2 when they flush the toilets with drinking water? Washing cars and watering lawns with drinking water? For using AC and heating? For using hot water? Taking showers and baths? Having lit streets? Wherever quality of life is higher you will see high CO2 product...
