Re: Question to kite experts: pimping old kites

kite pants would really tie it all together! I know they've become the butt of jokes, but I would totally use those now. I live in sunny Florida and have a family history of skin cancer (my father has them removed every couple of months and had a melanoma a couple of years ago). I already wear long...

Re: Soul kite repair

The repairs on my Soul 12m were completed about 2 weeks ago by Windfire Designs, but with the Corona virus beach closures and other issues, I have not had time to fly the kite. Windfire Designs did a great job and I could hardly tell where the tear was :D . There was a small patch near the stiffener...

Re: Time to spare, time to change

It's times like these that bring out the best in people, or the worst. Some may take time reflect on their situation and how they live their life and change for the better, but most will not in my opinion.

Re: Recoating kite fabric

How about the Dowsil 3140 RTV coating? Better flow/viscosity maybe?

Re: Covid-19 - How does it affect your kite-life?

Just to show how panicky people are getting, my brother was down to his last roll of toilet paper and went to Walmart to buy some. They were just restocking the shelves bringing out a pallet. He said it was like seagulls swarming around potatoe chips at the beach. One man wanted to buy the whole pal...

Bridle Shrinkage

I took the line plan for my 12m Soul and measured some of the bridle segments nearest the kite to compare them (the ones that I could measure.easily by myself - 1.5 meter length or less). I found that the leading edge segments compared the same and progressing to the trailing edge the segments progr...

Re: Skimboard?

After I got proficient in riding a TT, I decided to branch out to ride just about anything (except for a refrigerator door which some have tried). My first skimboard was home made out of a sheet of plywood about 2' x 4'. Sasquatch Board 001_LI (2).jpg I used it with and without fins (one on each end...

Re: Landing Sand anchor

The OP asked about landing a foil kite. I would not use any of the above in landing a foil kite. There were other methods mentioned in this forum such as using a hook type thingy anchored in the sand to catch the wing tip bridle or using a rebar rod driven into the sand with a pool noodle on it. I w...
