Re: Flysurfer Speed 5 - 15m

The Speed 5 is a higher aspect kite than the Soul which I like for light wind riding upwind ability. It is less stable than the Soul, but not that much IMO. Relaunch is more "technical" and the Soul relaunches easier, like a lei. It took me awhile to get used to the turnjng speed of my 21m, but the ...

Re: Boards and kites stolen from garage in Cape Town

Will your homeowners/renters insurance cover your loss? (assuming you have some insurance). Also, I would contact any pawn shops in the area and notify them that the equipment was stolen.

Nobody's gonna steal my favorite board...

Re: Flysurfer Soul

@Armin, So when would you advise adjusting the PMAs? After all other adjustments (mixer tests, bridle measurements, etc.) have been made and the kite still flies badly? Do you recommend that a qualified Flysurfer dealer make the adjustments? Just wondering if they are trained/experienced in doing th...

Re: Inguinal Hernia - to kite or not to kite?

I think it depends a lot of your riding style, if you are jumping 20 meters high or doing freestyle performance it can be a high risk if you have unfortunate. But if you are just sailing I think it should be fine. But the best is to look for your doctor. I don't think I've ever jumped 20 meters, at...

Re: Cabrinha Foil Problem

I think the same thing happened to a foiler who frequents my local spot. He had a Cabrinha Double Agent though, but the bolts stripped out of the mast, same as the pic above, but worse - the side of the mast buckled. He lost two sets of wings, but was fortunate to recover the second set. Still a pai...

Inguinal Hernia - to kite or not to kite?

I've suspected for several months that I had a hernia. No pain, but sensitive with a very slight bulge, hardly noticible. I avoided going to see my doctor until my annual routine appointment last Wednesday. I've been out riding about a dozen times once the beaches reopened and most recently a 2 hour...

Re: boardshorts versus waist performance

Started kiting with a Dakine Fusion seat harness. Progressed to a Mystic Warrior waist harness and loved the compactness and light weight, but after a several years my back said no. I wanted to buy an Ion B2, but could not get one on sale, so I bought a Dakine Nitrous shorts. They are not as comfort...

Re: What's your favorite wind range?

Any steady/non-gusty wind up to 25 knots. Usually at my locations anything over 25 is gusty and you get yanked a lot. Not fun at all but we all ride in tropical storms just to say we did.
