Re: Do Kite Bags Suck?

IMO kite companies spend way to much providing me with a full back pack. I ride Cabrinha kites, awesome quality back packs but totally unnecessary. I put those back packs away completely unused until I sell the kites. Instead I use Dakine compression bags. They are light weight and take up less spa...

Re: Explosive Decompression! - No puncture.

Air suddenly going into an empty strut would not have sufficient volume to collapse the LE. Maybe I missed something, but a collapsing kite isn't what I had in mind, nor did I read anything alike by OP. in the middle of a turn my kite just completely crumpled and dropped out of the sky, its a newis...

Re: Explosive Decompression! - No puncture.

Thanks chaps, lots of things to investigate seemingly! I just want to go kiting lol, I need to be rich, or sponsored! I would suspect the Max Flow valve. The valve flaps need to be properly seated or they can leak air. It happened to me on a number of occasions - in my experiences it didn't happen ...

Re: Do Kite Bags Suck?

Best had the best bags with the lightweight sock. Those bags would last. Agree, you don’t need multiple kite bags, that lightweight sock for each is the way to go and one good bag to carry them. IF you travel on a plane, weight and bulk of bags is an issue. Never mind the cost of the bag. In like u...

Re: Do Kite Bags Suck?

Best Bags 2013, 2014, 2015 ( I don't know about 2012) were great. Stuff sack for lightweight transportation of individual kites - a "backpack" bag that opened all the way around & was big enough to carry 2 or 3 kites plus bars, pump. Those bags are still going strong 5 years later. Other bags I have...

Re: Foilboarding Disaster

Agreed, if your kite is in the air, keep it there. My assumption was that the kite had crashed into the water. In that case, as you've noted, the foilboard will gradually point downwind and then it will take off fast (the mast and wing keep the board pointed straight downwind, unlike a TT, which us...

Re: Foilboarding Disaster

When you crash, first and foremost, get control of your board. I would say first & foremost, concentrate on flying the kite. If the kite is flying high then it is impossible for the lines to get wrapped around the board. However ... it happened to me a couple of weeks ago: it was quite unpleasant: ...

Re: New Shorty: ION or NP

I can't say for sure regarding these shorties ... but my experience - I've owned NP & Ion wetsuits - has been that Ion generally makes a superior product. Shorties tend to be less critical than cold weather suits, but as with all types of wetsuits, the actual individual FIT is one of the most import...

Re: What are the Differences between an Wave kite and a Freeride Kite

If you're trying ti wave ride in onshore or side onshore conditions, the turning speed of the kite & the ability to depower the kite are at least as important as "drift". I remember when I first tried a dedicated wave kite as opposed to a free ride kite: it allowed me to crank a turn harder without ...

Re: Jesse Richman's Terrifying Snowkiting Incident - Pushing the Limits

Essentially paragliding with gear that was not designed for paragliding. Doesn't seem like a very good idea. Of course it's fun ... until something goes wrong. Ask Billie.
