Re: BEST Gear 2019 - any experiences?

I have been riding Best kites for 10 years and my experience has been good. I currently have 3 Rocas 2017 and I love them the hang time is insane. I was thinking about getting a 12m and 9M with the current sale deal going on to upgrade but I could not find a single review of the 2019 Roca. I'll stic...

Re: 75 cms mast

I learned on the same foil with the 60cm mast and it was fine for flat water. When you ride in waves the longer mast is needed because your wing can come out of the water when you are leaving a big wave and hitting the lower part of the next wave. That's a great setup for learning most people can ri...

Re: Which 5 or 6m kite you guys advise from Duotone/North?

From Duotone definitively the Evo lower aspect delta shape kites like the Neo tend to be very stable they want stay in place and won't fly all over the place and that's good in crazy high wind. If you are willing to look at other brands the Ocean Rodeo Prodigy is super stable and you barely feel the...

Re: Two quite quiver?

I used to be 100kg an Airush Ultra 15m works well for me from 6 knots to 15 on a low aspect foil and then I can use it up to 20 knots with a twintip. If you don't want to foil you will need a huge door and a huge kite like a 21m Flysurfer. It's way more fun with the foil! I also have Roca 9m awesome...

Re: Learning to foil, advice on short mast and kite.

I learned with the Airush Ultra it was designed for foiling and it's fantastic. There a lot of discussions about it on this forum. I think a 12m and a 9m would be good combo for most folks. I have a 15m too but I'm heavy and I do mostly super lightwind. I learned on a 60cm mast and then moved to 90 ...

Re: Best Foil for Absolute Beginner?

The Shinn foil is ridiculously easy to learn on. With the Jackson 145 board P wing and 60cm most people are riding in less than one hour often 15 minutes. It makes a great lightwind foil after that. You can ad a faster wing and long mast when you are ready to go faster.

Re: Cab Contra 2018 15m, do I need XXL bar to get quick turning?

I demoed the 15m Contra on a 52cm bar it turns reasonably well for a big kite it's not super fast but good for a 15m. A 60cm bar will make it turn faster but it also will require more pulling force so that may get your arms tired faster. I use a 50cm bar on my 15m GTS LW and it's more than enough bu...

Re: Split boards - worth the money?

The Kitelement split board is pretty much the price of a regular board and it's well made and not too heavy. I don't see the point of cutting a good board. All the home made split board I have seen so far were very heavy.

Re: refurbishing control bar handle

I built an 80 cm bar for a 22m foil since I could not find one big enough. I used bicycle handlebar foam tape. It worked great and it's very comfy. It started moving around after the initial install so I had to unwind it and put contact cement on the bar and reinstall it. Now it's been solid for a f...

Re: Kiteboarding in Veradero

This has been discussed many times before. Kiting is forbidden at the tip of the peninsula where the wind is onshore it is allowed further down where it is generally offshore. You have to pay a tax to kite there. This is why nobody goes there for kiting anymore.
