Re: Goove Skate foilboard, durability and build quality

Love the look of these boards. In general where do there or any foilboards fail?
Not so much the heat issue but mast stress to the board. I assume its right to the front of the mast inserts as a cantilever.

Re: Goove Skate foilboard, durability and build quality

Odd they say the EPS thickest part is 10cm when depending on the model up to 5cm total. With 2x 3mm pvc skins the EPS would be over 4cm. I suspect they use something like this. https://greenlightsurfsupply.com/collections/surfboard-and-sup-vents-plugs-and-handles/products/surfboard-vented-leash-plug...

Re: How I built my own kite surfing bar

I've had a black eye from a bar nailing me when I tripped over the handlebars kind of fall.

Re: Goove Skate foilboard, durability and build quality

If the board has EPS in the core then overheating can cause issues. Do these boards have the goretex vent in the leash plug to mitigate this? I would prefer a solid corecell board. They have to be thinner to keep the weight down but better durability IMO.

Re: How I built my own kite surfing bar

Ok in your test you tied off the chicken loop to a support and pulled on the rears? Then you should be good. I am surprised that held up to that actually. But good work!

Another perspective which relates to your comment is when doing unhooked like a Jesse Richman style maneuver. :D

Re: How I built my own kite surfing bar

Not to be a buzzkill but I think it will break in the middle. You had to remove a lot of material in the middle and filling with epoxy and even if filled with chopped carbon fiber I would be suspicious. Before you go out in the water I would load test it with a least your own weight swinging from it...

Re: Unintended suicide mode on Core sensor 2+ bars

No way that chicken stick did that by itself. I would think possible that position of the stick could have jammed the safety as it looks like in the pic. I doubt core tested for that scenario. You were never in trouble anyway since the long depower throw more or less killed the kite anyway..

Re: Pocket board building

Typically end grain balsa is used in composite sandwich construction.

Really high performance but a pita for any shaping as it tears away from the scrim backer. You might add some foam rail that are shapeable and get a nice core that way.
