Re: Glueing velcro to depower cleat?

Do non-rusting magnets exist or did all the kite brands choose the wrong magnets? Always saw corrosion on the slingshot and ozone bars with magnets. Corrosion where? Aluminium cleat with magnet attached in some way? Are magnets glued or just screwed on in those bar? Anyone knows a way to avoid that?

What weight you are? All those reccomendations can be all wrong if you are 100 or 120 kg for example.. Just a thought.

Re: Glueing velcro to depower cleat?

Nope, I'm talking about these ones (you can see them at 0.35): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=an1ExP_VduQ&app=desktop Thanks. Did not find those - the site i mentioned has the ball but not the actual handle. Might be a thought of hiving them a call as they seem to be Slingshot specialists. One can...

I thought about the handle like Slingshot uses on their bars.
One of those?

Are they magnetic or something?

Re: Glueing velcro to depower cleat?

Velcro still works. I thought about glueing magnets too. But I haven't found a proper way or place to stick a magnet to the line. Any chance to buy one of these magnet handles somewhere? I haven't found them. The best i found was those ring nagnets with holes threaded for M3 bolt or hook. Not sure ...

Re: Glueing velcro to depower cleat?

I used epoxy, works great. M3 velcro just lasted a few sessions. Thanks, you mean you simply glued a piece of velcro to metal cleat using epoxy? I glued the velcro with aquasure first, but had the impression, that it wouldn't last forever. One day I was repairing a board and had some epoxy left, so...

Re: Glueing velcro to depower cleat?

Not that this will help much but it seems like if you have so much depower pulled that it’s getting wrapped & in the way maybe you should be on a smaller kite to have more fun? Don’t most kites fly best when fully powered? Thanks very much for the hint Knot! With gusty conditions here i am well pow...

Re: Glueing velcro to depower cleat?

Have a look at the way RRD stops the depower rope from dangling. Might be easier, even cheaper, since you don't have to glue it to the clam cleat. rrd-global-bar-V8-2-specs-1-2.jpg Peter Lynn did something similar, with a ring and velcro straps so if it got tangled, it could separate. My bar does n...

You can also get the spare part for the core bar, costs almost nothing:

Thanks, does it have sticky glue side or do i need to use my own glue? In this case which glue?
