Re: 3 Water start techniques. Why the most common one is not the best

Thanks very interesting. I think I end up using 3rd method in a sliding turn when powered conditions. I am a beginner though, so may be it is plain wrong?
How about a video on sliding turn - light wind vs powered conditions?

Re: Beginner going upwind question

Hey Sergei Good to hear you are still at it! Hey! You bet! Getting better too ☺. Was in Fuerteventura - Flag Beach and had a blast! Still just about stay upwind but most of the time I kite in waves, sometimes biggish 5 feet like in the Flag beach so I guess this makes it harder... Thanks for your v...

Re: Beginner going upwind question

Thanks everyone, lots of things to think about/try. I guess the answer from you all to my original question was that sheeting in or out does not change kite position in the wind window that much, but general consensus seems to be sheeting out makes kite move forward in the window a bit. My guess is ...

Re: Beginner going upwind question

1.When you sheet out the kite will move further up in the window making it slightly easier going upwind due to the vector of the pull. However this comes at the costs of the power of the pulling force making it a delicate balance. 2.In general speed is king since you will create more apparent wind ...

Beginner going upwind question

With decent wind for a given kite size and me moving nicely - should I sheet in to go upwind better or sheet out a bit? Would my kite move to the side of wind window and still pull well enough if I sheet in? How does it work if any difference at all? I am just learning to stay upwind and not getting...

Wonder if a 2mil neopren hood helps? Or still need a helmet?

Re: Fuerteventura beginning of September kite sizes?

Going to Flag beach beginning of September. Last year was in lanzarote the same time and a lot days were 12mph wind, so a 12m was not enough. Should I take 12 and 17 to the Flag beach or 10+12? I am 95 kg, so my main kite is usually 12 and works for me up to about 24 mph steady wind. I am a beginne...

I would go for 10 and 17. Las Cucharas has more wind than flag beach imho. I have been at both locations several times.
Size difference between 10 and 12 not enough..
Have fun!
Thanks for confirmation that a 17 is a good idea for fb, I was not sure if it worth it..

Re: Wind conditions dictating board length?

Would you say you would be able to do the standard static overhead test - bar in 100% with kite at 12? sounds a bit daft! Exactly my point - one needs 2.5m in 50 mph if one rides 10 in 25. I mean increase in wind by 2x demands decrease of kite size by 2x2=4 times. Similarly 37.5mph/25mph is 1.5.si ...
