Re: Is strapless overrated?

it is a simple fact, that the most high performance surfing is done strapless by pro riders. As some one else mentioned, amundson & reo, etc were all outsurfed in 2010 by Ian Alldredge - and other pro´s followed this trend. The pro riders are leading the way for rest of us. It may be that the some ...

Re: Is strapless overrated?

The lighter the board, the less it will bounce around in chop. My interpretation of the situation, and experience from using lightweight "egshell" boards that I trashed in one season, is the opposite in chop. One of the heaviest boards on the market, that I use almost exclusively now, is the best c...

Re: Is strapless overrated?

Honestly the though of riding a SB strapped feels about as wrong as riding a TT strapless. I would have very much agreed with you even before I started strapless kitesurfing, and still would have for a portion of the time while I was comparing strapless to strapped. And yes, "it is all in what you ...

Re: Is strapless overrated?

Good article that shouldn't have offended the International Strapless State (ISiS) too much. Then again, I was once a member and would have taken offense to it back when I was operating under their indoctrination too. Now I am much happier that I have moved on since I do tend to question the group t...

Re: What kiteboard shape?

The range of boards that you can actually ride with a kite is amazing. No other water sport is even close. This is mostly due to the ability to use lift from the kite to reduce your effective weight, or keep the kite low to maximize your total weight. The power stroke from a large "wind-window" used...

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

NICE! Sounds like you have a good tight community that may be a much closer group than out here at Skyline. But then again, small local stuff is always the best. You guys just seem to be making it sound like you have some world class spots. Maybe you have finally convinced me to do some snowkiting i...

Re: what is slack?

"Pop": lines maintain tension and maintain power (for boosting, full-powered tricks). Slack: lines lose tension and lose power (for handle passes). Drift: lines maintain tension but lose power (for wave riding). "Pop" is usually used to describe board reaction, so I put it in quotes. But I like edt...

Re: Predictions for Ram Airs in 2019

And for this whole thread..... Well let me state that I do not use foilkites on the water anymore for a lot of reasons, but none of them are because foilkites are inferior in any significant way to tubies. Tubies just suit my style better on the water and in the surf. But the takeaway that every exp...

Re: Predictions for Ram Airs in 2019

... And last question - Do you go out further than you can swim in because you have an inflatable kite instead of a foil kite? .....I never ride further away than I can swim to start with - it's a rule not to break. Perfect! Thanks for the straight forward answer. This is how everyone should view t...
