Re: Iko training cost

When I started with windsurfing, rockclimbing, apnea and other sports similar to this there were no training. I learned windsurfing by videos, and then locals telling me what to do - because I was doing it wrong...from the videos. Windsurfing is extremely difficult and most of it is counter intuiti...

Re: Large Kite that will relaunch

Most light wind LEIs (except maybe strutless types) will deep water relaunch from about 9kts with the right technique. Below that - its a swim... Just a note: 9knots in deep water is more like 7 knots in shallow water, as you are being pulled by the kite in the same direction as the wind. So be car...

Re: Large Kite that will relaunch

Actualy you dont need LOW V bar - you can pull leash line on single flag line high Y bar like North to do same thing. Yup, you are correct, though you do not get to choose which side to use the technique on. You are locked in to using only the front line you have access to via the safety line. My i...

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

.....Found out something else I would never have suspected, a 173cm snowboard the longest I've been able to find is not enough to keep me on top of 4'+ of pure powder...... Skyline here in UT does not get deep powder like that very often, but I have had a few sessions cruising around at a good spee...

Re: Is there a difference in wetsuit quality?

Disclaimer - I am not up on any suits newer than 2015 or so. Some more expensive suits are made with much more comfortable stretchy neoprene that may not hold up as well. It seems that the fabric top sheet just does not go well with stitching-on-stretchy and so lifespan of the seams is shorter. But ...

Re: Large Kite that will relaunch

I can’t remember any LEI kite that will relaunch easy in conditions like that. Try to practice lw relaunching, watch some videos, there are few ways to do that. I recomemd pulling one of the front lines (if you have low V) while holding the opposite back line to help kite turn on the side. LW relau...

Re: Could Foot Straps on a Surfboard Lead to Broken Femur?

.....The whole idea of straps is both to provide extra control when riding waves, and boosting ability to jump over them..... Way more to it than that, at least for a board under 6'-0". Strapless forces you to move your foot on the board, then pressure the board there. Need to pressure the board in...

Re: What 14-15m kite feels most like a small kite? Lightness, turning speed, but still has power for LW?

Honest and simple answer. None!!! Good answer on the surface, but there is more to it than that. How you fly the kite is more important. Lots of slow reacting kites can be made to turn faster on the same bridal settings by trimming the kite to be more powered up in light winds. Normally, in light w...

Re: Cloud Kites A Caution

My suggestion of “you need help” was entirely factual. So......some would say that this reaffirmation of your previous statement is what you would call "doubling down". There is a current national figure notorious for this trait in his rants. A better way of expressing a rebuttal, would be to prese...

Re: Cloud Kites A Caution

..........Otherwise I find the statement: "You need help.." offensive and uncalled for. I find that statement "You need help.." very helpful and telling of "james's" personality. It also establishes that he has a lack of credibility in presenting unbiased reasoning on the subject. Unfounded persona...
