Re: Gong Strutless V4 review

Thanks for a great set of thoughtful comments. I agree. I like hearing how different people have learned different kites to improve their hydrofoiling. I started hydrofoiling with the kites that I used to TT. The limitations I found was ability to drift and depower, and ability to stay in the air in...

Re: Gong Strutless V4 review

I like my gong 12m strutless v2. I like gong offering an affordable way to try strutless. I believe strutless is a great way to keep an lei lightweight so it stays in the air in a lull. A 12m inflatable is pretty big for riding a foil. A 6m and 9m would have been a better first foil board quiver for...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

https://flysurfer.com/project/peak5/ The new peak 5 is launched in the digital world. First impressions: -design looks like a single skin. Not a hybrid. -there are two cells in the wingtips for steering vs. one in p4 -there could be a cool trim system that changes how flat or curved the kite is. -s...

Re: Push the limts

I am a big peak4 fan and agree give them a good look. What size hydrofoil are you using? Getting up on my 1250cm2, Moses 633 is a lot easier in light wind than a smaller hydrofoil. I am not sure peaks pair well with smaller hydrofoils. The great part about peaks is they stay in the air in a 4 knot l...

Re: What 3 to 4m Kite flies the best?

You won't complain about any 3 or 4m being too slow, too fast though is more likely. Genesis included. The biggest difference between a Peak and most other kites is the Peak won't break when you crash it. Have you (or someone there) flown 3, 4 or 5 m genesis ? What is their wind range in foiling co...

Re: One Strut Kites comparison

The peak 4 ... This is a good answer if you have a large hydrofoil, 1000-1200+ cm2, aren't racing fast speeds and not jumping. I have a 590-330 moses, not exactly light wind but I weight 70kg. Thanks for the advice! Will try to loose my fear of foil kites Thanks for sharing that you are riding the ...

Re: One Strut Kites comparison

For "surf, light powered" foilboard riding, how I stack up kites. 4. Your current twin tip kites, these might fall out of the air in light conditions. 3. Three strut surf kites 2. Strutless, single strut, or light fabric kites 1. Single skin, foil kites, flysurfer peak4. I read your comment that you...

Re: Less efficient on toeside riding. Why?

as nherbold, brought up. practice and think about the weak side, toeside. There is the hierarchy of riding strengths for side and foot forward. how much high wind you can handle, how low wind can you ride, how much of a disturbance can you handle. Strongest: Heelside, Dominant foot forward. Strong: ...

Re: Foil Kite Lifespan and Wind Range

Below is a good link from the Our Kite Life youtube channel for your questions. Armin from Flysurfer walks through tuning and checking the kite. Bridle adjustment, fabric porosity and hours are covered. The fabric used on the Soul and Sonic 3 is rated at 2500 hours. AirSail, Which sonic model and si...

Re: Beginner roll issues riding switch

Yes, increasing your non-dominant side to be equal/close to your dominant side is a skill. I like to practice on a surfboard because the falls are less extreme. Work on small, quick turns. Big deep carves. Toeside. This will give you tools to control power and angle on the foil. Then do same drills ...
