Re: What lightwind kite should I choose for a small rider?

The 15m Sonic 2 is a great kite but tough to launch in under 8 knots of wind.

Re: summer kite spots near Haliburton (Ontario, Canada)

Maybe a boat launch from middle of the lake in Haliburton. As previous poster mentioned, those lakes are small with gusty, swirly wind. About 90 minutes SW by car on the east side of Lake Simcoe at Lagoon City or 9th Concession are popular spots for catching the prevailing SW, W and NW winds. Beginn...

Re: Who ride with sunglasses, and where?

My opinion is that sunglasses are a must for kiting, no matter your latitude or what the weather is. The UV radiation in sunlight cooks your lenses and retinas and without protection, causes cataracts and other nasty conditions. I have a related question. Does anybody think the necklace that comes w...

Re: kite friendly airline

Just back yesterday from La Ventana, Mexico. United agent asked me what was actually in my "golf" bag and I replied (like a fool) honestly and replied: "a kite board".
$200 USD charge for one-way flight to Houston! Golf clubs would of been $35.

Re: First flatwater experience!

Jumping in flat water is so much easier. Take offs more predictable and landings a lot safer. I learned my down loop jibes and jumps from my bad side in obx flat water.

Re: Weed now legal in South Africa

If the wind is howling gusty, temp is down and things look crazy, a spliff puts me on edge as far as organizing my lines and and not fucking up my drift launch. For me, the ganja is best after the session.

Re: Beginner kite- Core XR5 or Naish Pivot

Avoid the light wind (LW) XR kites, (15m and bigger) as your first kite since these have less durable canopies than many other comparable kites. After four years of beach self-launches, tomahawks and lots of UV exposure, my 15m XR4 LW started to disintegrate so much that I could poke holes thru the ...

Re: Your worst kitesurf injury ?

Maybe an unhooked launch would of prevented my recent short deathloop up the beach. Intermediate older safety-conscious kiter, done over a 1000 launches without mishap. This happened during a regular assisted launch with a 20 knot directly onshore steady wind. During launch, a large balled up knot, ...
