Re: Surfr Or Woo for the luddite?

Hoolan is another alternative that doesn't require a separate device (WOO or phone), just a smartwatch. Once I tried it I got rid of my WOO...cleaner display, easier to use.

Re: Apple Watch Band

Ocean Band is made for the water. I've been kiting (scuba diving, snorkeling, etc.) with it for a year. Absolutely no worries about losing it. I actually just ordered a new one (new color introduced today) and once I receive it I will have the black one available, including the extension that is lon...

Re: Surfr vs Woo

I've been using WOO for a few years. I recently gave Surfr a try when I was on vacation and renting gear (no WOO mount on the board) with just my Apple Watch (no phone). I actually really liked it - the display is cleaner and easier to read out on the water. The session recording is much easier as w...

Re: Load & pop on a Jimmy Lewis TT

I think your board is too big for what you want...especially since you say your pop is with a relatively flat board. Sounds like you're not able to really bury the rail and edge hard (and that should actually be easier with boots). I'm 130lbs and I ride/rode a 130x37.5 custom Jimmy Lewis with bigger...

Re: Apple Watch Apps compared for Freeriding

I finally got a chance to try the new Apple Watch app and it's great, but when I saved the session to the Woo app on my phone it saved as a Freeride session rather than Big Air. Is there a way to switch the session to Big Air? I can't seem to find a way to do that. Did you have a WOO session as wel...

Re: Kite backstalls in low wind after looping

Another thing to consider is what are you doing during the loop? If you're heading downwind (to any degree) it will reduce your apparent wind and increase the tendency of the kite to backstall / fall out of the sky.

Re: Beginner Landboard lessons NY?

I'm curious why you want to specifically learn landboarding? Lessons for both land and water kiteboarding start the same...on land, with a trainer kite. Then the next step is actually much safer in the water, for fairly obvious reasons (you get pulled off the board and dragged by the kite...). If yo...
