Re: old gear?

I have to disagree with the above posts about the octopus system. I have owned multiple kites with the octopus system since it was introduced about 15 years ago. My 2007 8m Raven burst last year after 12 years of heavy use and none of the 7 struts ever had a leak or issue. If the kites have been sto...

Re: Why does nobody make narrow boards anymore?

F-One have some 39cm boards Interesting. Just as the fashion in wakeboarding (where there is no kite to cushion the landing) is going towards bigger boards for softer landings you want to go smaller? My dilemma is that I perceive that a narrower board (e.g 39cm to 40cm wide) is best for high-powere...

Re: Why does nobody make narrow boards anymore?

It just seems bizarre to me that the narrowest board in Naish's entire twintip range is 41cm wide!?! I would consider 41cm to be medium width, or if anything slightly on the wide side. I'd consider under 40cm to be narrow.

Re: Why does nobody make narrow boards anymore?

The main thing I want to know is - Do people think the newer wider boards (e.g. 132 x 41) are actually better for super powered conditions than the older narrower boards?

Why does nobody make narrow boards anymore?

I'm considering getting a new small board for high-powered hooked-in riding... mostly for 30+knots powered big jumps and mega loops. I really like my current board size ( old 2006 Naish Thorn 132 x 39.5cm) It was a very high-tech board for it's time and after trying other boards I've not yet found o...

Re: Slingshot UFO

Can anybody explain me why you need a no strut kite in 3m, 5m and 7m? Even when foiling you need with the 7m at least 13 - 15 Knts and then the low weight doesn't play a big role or am I missing anything? Even more extreme with the 3 and 5m. You lose all the benefits of the struts (1 or 3). Why wou...

Re: Footstrap inserts rotating - Help needed!

take it to a decent Cycle shop, they can screw an "easy out screw extractor" into the bolt and remove it (assuming the insert is not moving). If it's the insert thats moving then the board is knackered and not worth repairing, although you can reset new inserts using epoxy, but it's probably not wo...

Re: Footstrap inserts rotating - Help needed!

If they are rotating then you are going to have to do a repair anyway. Or, are we talking about a twin tip with thin metal inserts or a surfboard with deeper plastic inserts? Peter The board is an old Naish twintip, which I assume has thin metal inserts. The inserts are holding up fine and doesn't ...

Footstrap inserts rotating - Help needed!

I'm looking for help to remove/ replace my very old footstraps from my board. When I try to unscrew the footstrap screws from my board the screw head rotates, but the screw doesn't come out. I'm 99% sure that the screw is ceased into the board screw insert, and the screw inserts are rotating inside ...

Re: just arrived a new 9mtr soul joins my family of foil kites, need advice!

Great review Foil! You must be one of the very few people who has tested all of these kite back-to-back. I guess there cannot be a "winner" for all disciplines. But only a winner for your own preference and style of riding. I'm certainly pleased with my 13m Chrono V3 Ultralight for the conditions I ...
