Re: Hydrofoil stiffness & fuselage connections

Which brands offer a similar light carbon surf style foil like the Moses 633, but with less flex?

Re: climate change /unpredictable weather/wind

I find Hume´s question everything quite interesting. I find it a reasonable way to lead a life, but are you questioning the physics of co2 being a so-called "greenhouse gas"? As far as I can see that is the only factual statement I have made in this thread. There is no question that CO2 is a greenh...

Re: Hydrofoil stiffness & fuselage connections

For the same weight/stiffness the carbon can be thinner for less drag, and the hydrodynamic profile can vary from root to tip. Usually near the top, it is thicker for strength and stiffness, farther down it is shaped to avoid ventilation, closer to the bottom optimized for lowest drag. Aluminum on ...

Re: Hydrofoil stiffness & fuselage connections

This thread topic has made me ask some interesting questions.... If carbon masts are generally less stiff but lighter than aluminium masts. Or for the same stiffness carbon masts end up being similar weight as aluminium masts.... then why would any of the professional racers ever use a carbon mast? ...

Best foils for SUP "wing foiling"

I'm interested to know which hydrofoils (brand/ wing model/ size) people are using for wing foiling?

In particular I'd like to know whether the Moses 790 or 873 wings are any good or whether there are much better options available from other brands?

Also what mast lengths do people find work best?

Re: Hydrofoil fuselage connections

I appreciate that there will always be different materials at different price points for hydrofoils, but it will be interesting to see if the industry focusses on one particular standard construction and assembly type for any given material.

Re: Hydrofoil fuselage connections

No matter how it ride - bigger moses are almost laughably soft. You look at it and it move... But i think main culprit is the moses mast. If you have bigger problem on other place you wont discover relatively smaller details. And wing fuse connection is last place in order of importance. Because yo...

Are Slingshot 90cm aluminium masts much stiffer than the Moses carbon 91cm masts?

Hydrofoil stiffness & fuselage connections

I notice that 3 main connection types are used in the industry to join the front wing to the fuselage: 1) Moses type connection: Cylindrical shape fuselage with curved shape match the curve on top of the wing. Bolts through the wing to fuselage. SmartSelect_20191013-084045_Chrome.jpg 2) Slingshot ho...

Re: Naish ditches octopus system.

No. After 5-10 years there are three things that happen. 1) the strut valve delam. Easy fix. Just reglue and you are done, minimal cost easy repair don't even have to take the octopus off 2) the male parts and female parts turn brittle. The male part snaps off, while the female part splits open and...
