Re: Kiteboarding Travel Guide: Langebaan South Africa

Only thing I would disagree with is Langebaan being a "beach destination" (or whatever she called it). I was there for almost 3 weeks and I could count on one hand the number of people sunbathing on quiet days on that beach. If you are bringing loved ones for them to have a "beach holiday" while you...

Re: Ozone Catalyst vs Endura and Edge

Sometimes I can´t help thinking that Ozone made a mistake branding the Catalyst as beginner friendly as people end up thinking is a "simpe" kite. I would argue whenever I have been kiting 90-95% of the people on the water are not skilled enough to have outgrown the Catalyst. I have seen some very go...

Re: What's the difference between a beginner, intermediate, and advanced twin tip?

Havre. Imho that's the point. In light wind the expert and beginner need the same characteristics it's just that the expert would be really be aware of the weight of a cheap board. A rich beginner and an expert of the same size could well be on the same board. Arguably no board is too small, it jus...

Re: What's the difference between a beginner, intermediate, and advanced twin tip?

Good post, but it doesn't really prove anything unless, as you say, others have done the same. To me it sounds odd if they don't change the design somewhat across the range. A beginner needs a board that is easy to ride upwind and that "floats" well. More advanced riders will look for other characte...

Re: Kite "Camp" in July in Dominican

I learned in Cabarete so it is definitely possible, but as others are saying it isn't the ideal place to learn. I wouldn't say don't go, but there might be better alternatives until you have reached a slightly higher level.

Re: Help choosing July destination

Cabarete is pretty enormous - is it really crowded all over the place?

Cool and thanks for sharing.

I'm planning my trip for winter 2019 and I haven't considered Nicaragua before now.

Re: Ozone leading edge bladder failures?

Some funny responses. So a small leak that means you can just hear the strut being filled from the leading edge when you open up the valve after a session = failure. I would like to hear the phone call you guys would make to the towing company after your car has been scratched slightly. “Hey man my ...

Re: Ozone leading edge bladder failures?

Certainly not normal. Never seen an Ozone-kite fail.

The struts do leak though. A bit annoying, but the leaks have never had any practical consequences for me. Not sure if they leak more than other brands? Never owned a kite that wasn’t Ozone.

Re: Buying used lightwind kite Beginner Help

600 including a bar isn´t bad. I thought it was 600 for the kite. Big kites are generally more expensive so... As for it being a good idea or not I think others are in a better position than me to answer that question. I got a lot more weight to push back with if overpowered than you got. If that is...
