Re: Aluula\SLS alternatives ?

Yeah. Who knows what kind of compromises Ozone have made to get the weight down. That said it is far from a given that a Duotone SLS kite will be better than the comparable Ozone kite just because it is now SLS. Even if Duotone want you to believe that. A friend of mine got an Evo SLS, but he still ...

Re: Aluula\Sls alternatives ?

Core got some new name for their material as well? I'm interested in new developments myself, but I wouldn't go hunting new material for the sake of new material. Will be very interesting to see what kind of reviews we get from the Rebel SLS and later OR Rise, but unfortunately most reviews are rath...

Re: Complete set for a beginner friend

I didn't even think of the board size. I would agree with danlar that is on the small side for a beginner. Even more so when you are probably tall enough to use the most outer placement of the pads. Not a huge deal, but the "wings" of the board will then become very short. At least personally I don'...

Re: Edge v10 vs orbit 21-22

I think what you meant to say was tall  I always thought the opposite in terms of sizing, but I really have no idea. And it might vary from brand to brand also? In the Oslo area I suspect it has something to do with the retailers. Maybe there are more Enduros than Edges, but it is quite close....

Re: Complete set for a beginner friend

My first kite from 2014 I believe is still flying. Sold a couple of times since I sold it. But I paid usd 1100 for kite, bar, harness and board back in 2016 or something. With little use.

So I guess I agree with Leeuwen that 900 sounds quite expensive.

Re: Edge v10 vs orbit 21-22

Did you use the kites with the same bar or with Ozone and North bars? I'm not sure how much 3m longer lines matter, but it should be some (assuming you used different bars). Also I wonder how much more of the kites sqm is in the tips on the Orbit. I guess for the Edge that there is at least some mor...

Re: North orbit 2022

So I bought one any way to se what all the hype is about. How do you tell which model you been sent now it’s the same colours? Nothing on the box says v3 or 2022? The text on the 2022 is different than on the 2021. In 2021 the Blue kite had yellow text, now it is a lighter blue or something. Same w...

Re: Duotone Rebel SLS 2022

Kites are not priced according to "cost+" (meaning there is cost + a fixed margin). If it had been we would have seen kites varying a lot more in prices than they do (even if of course the shops might sell kites at more or less the same price level even if they pay the OEM's more/less). Generally sp...

Re: Duotone Rebel SLS 2022

It would have been cool to know more about a) the real benefit of losing weight (how much it matters) b) the trade-offs both in terms of durability and performance (is it necessarily so that less weight means "better" performance for all types of kites? I guess not). XR6 and 7 are according to Gree...
