Re: Price Switch bar

FWIW, I sold a rather lightly used example of the orange bar for $75 about a year ago on ikitesurf. I think you'll find that the swivel's reputation is going to harm the money you get out of them.

Re: Slider/pulley use a thimble?

I've been using that exact setup on a rope slider this summer. Spliced a 1/8" dyneema loop around the thimble and I clip in a wichard https://marine.wichard.com/en/stainless-steel-hardware/snap-hooks/quick-release-snap-shackles/with-swivel-eye/part-2673 which replaced my chicken loop. Only using it ...

Re: LF thruster foil any good?

I've had a LF Thruster for 2 years and the Rocket was the first board I owned with the original LF foil. I still really enjoy the Thruster even while also riding a Moses foil and 3 wings (633, 695 & 647). It's a really good all-around foil, early lift, solid top end, somewhat loose, skatey feel, but...

Re: Closed cell foam blanks and rocker

I've built a few boards from 1/2" divinycell H80 and never had an issue with spring back. Two were built with 2 layers of 1/2" (12mm) for total thickness of 1". Just vacuum-bagged the 2 sheets together with thickened (& tinted) epoxy on the rocker table. I have a large vinyl bag and the foam and roc...

Re: Hit or Flop!? - Bouch

No need for those line gadgets. I've used this technique for several years. Foolproof if you pay just a little attention to what you're doing.

Re: February wind in Captiva Island

I've kited on Captiva (though not North Captiva) a few times in recent years in late January and February. On most fair weather days the wind always seemed to have a bit of east in it, making anything on the Gulf side-off or off-shore. Even a south that felt side shore at the beach beach, felt a lit...

Re: Moses mast length for fun "freerace"

I purchased the 101 w/ 637 foil set this spring for more or less the same reasons as you. Fast, cover long distances quickly and easily, and I also wanted something for jumping. Plus, shedding a few pounds compared to my LF Thruster was a good thing. For all of those it has checked the box. My only ...

Re: Leg burn

Another consideration is the behavior of the LF rocket/fish foil. After I moved on to a new foil (LF Thruster) I realized that the rocket/fish foil was relatively sensitive to pitch adjustments and required far more input for stable flight. All those micro adjustments end up wearing you out faster. ...

Re: Pocket board building

TomW - Thanks. Yes, I really wanted to do the wood rail and probably will on my next board, but I was under a bit of a time crunch and hadn't 100% sorted out how I was going to laminate the wood strips around the rails, plus I was sensitive to adding extra weight. We'll see if the rails hold up to u...

Re: Pocket board building

I just finished my new board build. 120 x 45cm. Built with 1/2" divinycell foam core with basswood and western red cedar skins just shy of 1/8" thick (as thin as I trusted taking them down on my thickness planer.) 6" wide by 42" long strips of 9oz (12k x 3k) carbon is sandwiched on both sides of the...
