Re: Recommendation on cold weather kiteboarding gloves

I should also give an update. I find the new gloves I bought to be the best winter accessory by far! I was considering sawing dry gloves onto my dry suit, but most of the dive gear shops steered me into the Atlas 460 gloves with wrist gaskets and I love them. You lose less dexterity than even 3mm n...

Strapless Progression Advice

I built myself a plywood Shinnster copy ("the spinnster") for this season and have fallen in love with strapless riding after 3 years of TT. The freedom of movement, new challenges, not to mention how well it slices through the chop and rides the little waves in my local spot (Lake Champlain, VT). I...

Re: Begginer strapless surf board - North nugget, airush mini monster, firewire evo or suggestions

plus one for the wave bandit!! or storm blade 58 on amazon, essentially same board, have yet the break mine and do stupid stuff all the time on it haven't used my real surfboard in a while, strapless airs are really easy and the soft board is very forgiving on hard landings Nice! My last concern ab...

Re: Begginer strapless surf board - North nugget, airush mini monster or suggestions

If $$$ isn't an issue though you might want to get an OR Jester (or Duke if you are heavier) as they are terrific lake boards and with 5 fin boxes you have loads of options for fins. I will warn you though that I sold my OR Jester after discovering the joys of the Wave Bandit. I wouldn't say I'm ch...

Re: Begginer strapless surf board - North nugget, airush mini monster or suggestions

Glad I found this thread. I've been kiting for 4 years, just tried strapless this summer on a Shinnster copy that I built and am loving it! I'm also light weight (about 60kg), so the Performer 4'10" seems like a no brainer. Question: Do you ride it with the twin fin setup or have you somehow made i...

Re: Begginer strapless surf board - North nugget, airush mini monster or suggestions

While I haven't actually tried the Performer 5-6, I ride the Performer 4-10 pretty much all the time. I'm only 75 kg though. Another option would be the Odysea Stump 5-0 or RNF 5-5 but the Catch! Surf boards use triple stringers and are a bit heavier than the Wave Bandit ones. A big plus to the Stu...

Re: Switch Lineup

2 months ago I ordered an Element 6. After flying it only 3 times, the kite leaked air and couldn't hold the right pressure for more than 10 minutes. Interesting! I bought a brand new Element v6 12 meter and on first pump up, there was a fast leak in the last (small) strut. After some back and four...

If Switch can take great designs and get them to you fast and cheap then everyone wins.
You're right, and I think I'm gonna get over it too. As long as the quality and customer service stay there, I suppose it doesn't really matter!

Re: Nitro 7 Proto Photos

Hello cnski: One year ago, Switch management made the decision to outsource their products from other vendors (bars, boards, kites, etc) and cease in-house development to reduce costs. They did not reveal this decision publically or to their customers. I'm sorry to hear you made a purchase of the H...

Re: Building a Plywood Shinnster / BRM Paipo

Little progress update for everyone on this (my first) board, the Shinnster Copy. I'm working with 5mm poplar ply from Lowes. I cut the shape out with a jig saw, cleaned it up, and then made a second layer with the router and a flush cut bit. Glued them together to form the rocker, just like KrisL d...
