Volume is worthless (and somewhat detrimental to ultimate performance) when there is never a displacement mode as in kitesurfing.
Here we go...

Re: Surfboard weight

I hear that some want some extra volume for extra plaining when transitioning. I have my own perceptions about why that is, but I've learned that it's not worth debating. Have you demo'ed the PW 5'1 so you can compare it to the Evo 5'1. To me they felt very similar (Evo in thruster mode). Maybe you...

Re: Surfboard weight

I'm trying to understand why you're NOT focusing on equivalent (or nearly) boards. You keep talking about the FW/Tomo Evo 5'1, but you ordered the Duotone PW 5'3. Why didn't you order the PW 5'1 which is almost the exact same dimensions (LxWxT) as the Evo 5'1, yet the PW 5'1 is 3 liters less volume...

Re: Surfboard weight

Why are some people recommending PU boards, they seem to be all heavier than their EPS counterparts? PU boards are more flexible than most epoxy boards and do not bounce around as much in chop. Latest board construction seems to have different proprietary designs, new composites, and foams so it’s ...

Re: February Foil Destination - Caribbean

Thanks for all the input. San Andres Island looks really good. Wish it was easier to get to, think I'd rule it out for that, looking at 7-10 days. Turks or Cayman is probably a better fit, I'd want to stay at Long Beach or Barkers though, the girls would be fine with quieter and we/they can easily ...

Re: Surfboard weight

The firewire evo, what size do you recommend for 85-90kg guy? Highly recommend the FireWire Evo Helium 5’1” Vol=24.5L, Weight= 5.7lbs [2.6kg]. The volume and weight of this board is perfect for an 85kg to 90kg rider. It rides a little different than a typical strapless surf board and takes a few se...

Re: Surfboard weight

Yeah, heavy boards suck, in light winds esp. for strapless freestyle at least, less so in better winds. Regarding Scifly, if I'm not mistaken, Gleiten.tv had a review on it and mentioned that it feels small and better for lighter people. Totally agree. I got this board thinking it would be good for...

Without fins?
Included the fins they provide:

Fins are 6.8oz
Board without fins is 7lbs 1oz [3.2kg] which is much heavier than FireWire Helium.

Re: Wave Priority? My ass!

Who tells people they have priority on a wave? Stop this BS...because stupid people like this guy think they have priority on everything now they call "wave". You don't own the ocean because you ride a wave board and think are hot stuff. You are just a danger to all others! Go to a real wave spot, ...

Re: 2020 Surfboards by Duotone

Can anyone provide the weight of these boards? I just got the 2020 5’3” pro whip which weighed 7.5 lbs [3.4kg] out of the box. Very disappointed at how heavy this board is.
