Re: Flysurfer is going to beat fishnets? (Release of VMG2)

Do those additional internal battens go all the way from the leading edge to the trailing edge? It's hard to tell from the pics in the first post by Horst Sergio or this pic from the Flysurfer website: https://flysurfer.com/files/2020/05/VMG2-Gallery-Team-5.jpg If you have any other pics or a pencil...

Re: Levitaz releases its R5 design for Olympia 2024

It's also odd since the other race foils went away from adjustable stabilizers. The ML and chubanga are permanently attached to the fuselage at a set angle. The stabilizer angle for ML foils is adjustable: http://www.mikeslab.com/instructions/ . The old Chubanga V2 was not adjustable, the new V3 mi...

Re: Covid-19 - How does it affect your kite-life?

Shhhh... watch your language. Of course the Faeroe Islands are not the primary focus here, that should be obvious. As of 3/20 the rate of testing was 50-60 times higher in South Korea than the US. And testing is big part of their success. There is no excuse, the US could have pulled this off, they h...

Re: Covid-19 - How does it affect your kite-life?

kiteykitekite, nothing wrong with thinking about alternative solutions but something tells me experts have already looked at this and then abandoned it. Unfortunately also some of the middle aged people require intensive care (see the graph below). Today they typically survive (with some exceptions ...

Re: Covid-19 - How does it affect your kite-life?

Rate of COVID-19 testing in select countries worldwide as of March 20, 2020 https://www.statista.com/statistics/1104645/covid19-testing-rate-select-countries-worldwide/ Kind of shocking how far down you need to scroll to find the US :-( Rate of COVID-19 testing in select countries worldwide as of 20...

Re: Covid-19 - How does it affect your kite-life?

I can highly recommend this article, best article about COVID-19 I've read in quite some time. Thanks "dorant" for sharing. It explains very well why China and South Korea have been so successful in curbing the spread and it also explains why it's so important to implement aggressive measures early ...

Re: Covid-19 - How does it affect your kite-life?

Another possible explanation is that in China many people use different SIM cards for work/private life and many people lost their job and are trying to cancel anything that is not essential. IMHO, if the Chinese government really wanted to make those death statistics look better they wouldn't make ...

Re: covid 19 closing beaches, any more to report?

https://twitter.com/joshmich/status/1239722556023812098 What both groups of authors point to is that the China/South Korea model of intense testing and case-finding, home isolation and quarantine, along with social distancing, is likely the most promising combination of interventions available for ...

Re: covid 19 closing beaches, any more to report?

IMHO, this article was pretty bad. Too much emphasis on the Diamond Princess sample set which is too small to deduce anything meaningful. And he pretty much ignores the data and deaths from China, South Korea and Italy. Also, his numbers are extremely low compared to the rest of the scientific commm...
